I understand but if they don't give Mattingly more offensive power I don't see why you re-sign him and then make him the fall guy. I swear they need to go get some free agents that can produce runs.

Well if not Hillman, then Posada makes sense....I guess they discussed all this before he re-signed.

Rendon is pie in the sky.....who are REAL possibilities ?

He would be a popular choice in the clubhouse I'm sure. And their opinion should be considered.

Resigning Starlin Castro for 2 years (who has been awesome for half a season), signing Nick Castellanos for 3-4 years, and and then waiting on Lewin, Jazz, Monte, and Sanchez.

      Opening day

      Alfaro, Wallach/Heineman/Holaday
      Cooper, Dean
      Isan (Castro, Berti)
      Rojas (Berti)
      Castro (Anderson, Berti)
      Anderson, Ramirez (Dean)
      Berti, Sierra, Brinson
      Castellanos (Anderson, Cooper)

You can also further upgrade by spending money on cheap veterans to upgrade backup C, backup 1B (Dean, has an option. Send him to AAA), and last OF (Brinson)

Aug. 1 is probably adding Lewin and Monte (Brinson Cut, and Ramirez cut or Dean optioned to AAA)

      Alfaro, Wallach/Heineman/Holaday
      Lewin, Cooper
      Isan (Castro, Berti)
      Rojas (Berti)
      Castro (Anderson, Berti)
      Anderson, Ramirez or Dean
      Monte, Berti, Sierra
      Castellanos (Anderson, Cooper)

The other of Ramirez/Dean get jettisoned if Sanchez is also ready.

And then if Jazz is also ready, you're starting to make really tough decisions as someone of Cooper, Berti, and Sierra is then on the chopping block too.

But someone is probably injured so it'll sort itself out.

I like this lineup strategy personally.

      • Looks like the scout who found Burdick/JD Orr/Mokma(Great Lakes area) is gone

"It was February (2018) and it was 32 degrees,” said Nate Adcock, a former big league righthander who at the time was in his first year as a Marlins scout and is now with the Royals.

Ya he is on a short leash and he knows it. Its not he is the fall guy-they like Duncan,Posada and even Johnson but want them to get more experience instead of just throwing them into the fire. Resign Mattingly 2 years cheaper and let these guys learn
