  • This from Craig Mish: Re : Jose Ramirez. Indians could snag Starlin Castro (who has obviously played well) BUT the Marlins would have to place him on outright waivers. MIA would get nothing back except salary relief. CLE would owe Castro remaining salary + 1 mil 2020 buyout. (1/2)

I can't imagine why Miami wouldn't do this. It's a great wild card race among the Tribe, Rays and A's.

    • How much money would it save the Marlins to trade one of the 3 people on the team that can actually use a baseball bat correctly?

Just about $3 million. $2 in salary for remainder of season plus another million to buy out his option for 2020. Indians may be willing to take that on to replace Ramirez for the stretch run. No reason for the Marlins to keep him regardless of which end of the bat he holds.

        • really interested to see Pablo lopez the rest of the year. He might be my favorite guy currently in the rotation long term, but his injury concerns are warranted after 2 straight years of arm injuries.

derek dietrich has been horrendous this year outside of 2 stretches where he was on fire.

His OPS is about 40 points higher than anyone that's worn a Marlins uniform this year.

You beat me to it. Dietrich seems to attract all the haters online and in real life.

Brinson with a walk and a triple tonight.

              • Dietrich OPS #'s last 3 months

                June: .592
                July: .606
                August: .557

                He's had a weird season.

Yeah, but he had about 80 awesome ABs and the rest of the year he has not been pretty terrible. Perhaps you can argue they should have just kept DD, but Walker has had a good enough season replacing his role and for less money.

                  • Fredi Gonzalez did an awful job stressing to Diaz that he needed to slide into 3B. I don’t know what’s worse, Isan Diaz’s base running or Fredi’s coaching.

                    • brinson has been worse since he came back up than he was before he went down. I hope they move on in the offseason and just flip him for another struggling prospect in need of a change of scenery. He's just never gonna put it together here. There was an article somewhere the other day showing people who have put up his stats to this point in their career and none of them became even productive regulars.

                      • Weird timing for long paragraph about how bad he is, though.

A triple, a walk and a piss missile single in his last 3 AB’s.

long paragraph? It was 3 lines. And 3 ab's doesnt change the fact that he has not shown a single indication that he is an MLB player other than the top prospect label in 2 whole years since he's been here. The guy is just bad. It happens. You swing and miss on prospects sometimes. Move on already and flip him for someone else needing a change of scenery.

He’s been awful the entire month he’s been back. It’s not weird timing, I’m just not gonna ignore 2 years worth of being awful for 3 ab’s
