  • The subject of an Anderson extension came up on another Marlin forum yesterday morning. I was slightly more optimistic with my projection for Anderson's earnings for the next four years: about $21M-$24M. I suppose you could add another year for $10M and and a team option for a sixth year (maybe $12M).

Lefty Daniel Castano with his third straight solid start for JAX, this one a 13 SO 0 W complete game vs Braves AA. I suppose we might see him in September.

Nice to see Elieser's velocity back in order last night.

$24 isn't unreasonable if he falls into some RBIs. It could get there. Overall point, I think 5/$35 would easily do it, and they could get a $12 million option on the back end.

      I'd front load it also.

      20-$10
      21-$7
      22 -$6
      23 -$6
      24 -$4
      25 - $12 option or $2 buyout

      =5/$35 or 6/$47

That's Anderson for ages 27-31 or 32 years old.

      • My guy Dillon Peters is still hanging in there. 2-1 record with 3.35 ERA for Angels. Did I read that Tom Koehler is attempting a comeback with Pirates? I did. https://rumbunter.com/2019/08/07/pit...eturns-action/

        • Steckenrider had his elbow scoped by Dr. Andrews. No TJ fortunately. Will be back next season.

Really wish we would take a chance on 1 or 2 of these DFA guys. Bearclaw/Panik we passed on. Hech is out there now

Its a great way for bad teams to get decent players-do we need Wilkin Castillo? DFA Grandy and Walker

            • Didn’t we not get anything for Peters? Pretty sure the angels just claimed him

                Tyler Stevens

                They traded

                Schales for Nick Anderson
                Peters for Stevens

Why? Because they had to be added to 40 man

We will be doing same thing this offseason-trade guys who COULD be picked and get something for them

Stevens looks like a decent gamble.

New question: Can anyone build a case for Jorge Alfaro as a solid piece of the Marlins future?

A lot can happen in a couple weeks ... ask Daniel Castano and Jorge Guzman. The latter altered his delivery, according to his manager, and that made all the difference. I wish Alcantara would change something. Every time he throws 95 and up, his fastball sweeps up and well out of the zone to the glove side. Over and over.

If Alfaro stops swinging at pitches well out of the strike zone, my view of him will change.

I wish you would stop evaluating baseball players, but we don’t always get what we wish.

This IS a baseball forum, so players will likely be discussed and varying opinions expressed. If my opinions wreak havoc on your mind or turn your stomach, just push the block button on my posts! So simple and convenient. It takes far less time than typing a single derogatory comment.

                          • Sandy Alcantara is so frustrating, because every once in a while he shows you what he could be, and it looks like tonight could be one of those nights.

i was literally coming here to post exactly that. it's why i dont want to move him out of the rotation until it is absolutely necessary or until the next wave of prospects knocks him out. He seems like a guy who could just have it click all of a sudden similar to bauer although bauer admittedly had more swing and miss stuff as a prospect than him. It's all about control and command for Sandy, and he's still so young its hard to envision him not at least taking another slight step to becoming a quality #3,#4 guy at worst who is capable of dominant outings but also capable of blowing up in any 1 start.

                              • What a fun comeback win. Great to see the crowd so into it too the last few innings. When the team was celebrating with Prado after his sac fly, all I could think was, "be careful, his hamstring!"
