So, the Marlins position players - all of them - have 1 WAR on the season. How incredible is that?

    Granderson (-1.2), Prado (-.8), Castro (-.6), Riddle (-.6), Dean (-.5), Herrera (-.5), Puello (-.4), O'Brien (-.4), Galloway (-.4), Rivera (-.4), Holaday (-.1), and Brinson (-.1) That's -6 WAR in 1,684 PA. That's a stone's throw from starting three -2+ WAR players for an entire season. That's really special.

Anderson, Cooper, Alfaro, Rojas, and Ramirez have 6.7 WAR in 1,680 PA. This is close to perfect symmetry.

If Diaz is a 2 WAR player next year and they get replacement level players to mind the gap to Lewin, Jazz, and Monte, it's an 8 win improvement.

Does that mean 51 wins next year?

Soo back on the Cole/Rendon train. I don’t think either is gonna happen really. They’ll probably end up signing an Aroldis Chapman or something.

2020 Goal is Top 3-10 Pick so 8 wins improvement

Really think they make a bid for Castellanos especially since NO draft pick now.Nothing crazy but 2 or 3 years-3/40-45(overpay) and see if he takes it. He is a RHB with power who can play 1B/RF/DH for AL games OR if they ever switch in NL

Boras will probably ask for 5/100+ but HELL NO

I would try for Rendon first but if not then try him. Rendon at 3B and BA as 1B/2B/3B/LF/RF RHB is the BEST option

Rendon and Cole are merely wishful dreams of a fan - despite knowledge that the $300M they would cost would also repay the entire debt load the team currently carries. I can't see any big ticket signees in the immediate future.

Castellanos? Never in a zillion years ... i.e. not likely. They already have Garrett Castecooper for basically free.

It would have to be purely opportunistic with Castellanos as the combination of Bleday, Sanchez, and Cooper, Anderson, and Monte (because VVM is in CF, etc.) spilling into a corner isn’t something you block. Likewise I don’t think you block Diaz/Cooper at 1B right now, especially since it looks like you can sign 1 year Cron/Dietrich/Bour types for 1B annually for the bench. I think if those guys don’t work out, 1B is a 22 signing or someone like Bleday/Misner is moved. To note, Rizzo is a FA in 22 and he would be perfect homecoming.

I think BA idea is spot on, I’ve been thinking about that too. Anderson can start 140 games at those 5 positions on a rotating basis - especially with all the lefties they have now. It’s why Rendon makes sense even with BA. And let’s not forget, there are no other 3B remotely close in the system. 3B is a good investment because of their depth, BA flexibility, and lack of farm.

I’m really only giving a long term deal to a 3B or SP right now. And that’s not just because the two big FA play those positions, that’s all that makes sense for them. In 22 you can sign for indulgent upgrades just for the hell of it once we see the kids for 2+ more years.

While we're in Tampa Bay, why not swing another deal with them. They still have Vidal Brujan and he's kind of blocked in their organization. I Diaz at third, Chisholm at SS, Brujan at 2B. That's my dream scenario for the Marlins.

Diaz doesn’t have the arm for 3B. He’s going to be 2B or bust unless he hits so much he can play LF/DH

Stepping way out on a limb, I'm going to say that Elieser Hernandez is going to be our most highly praised starter at the end of this season. From the bullpen, it's gonna be Brigham.

If we were going to bring up Isan you would've though it would be this weekend with us being able to utilize the DH.

Maybe because you can’t make deals in August anymore.

Elieser's right limb ... at least I thought that was supposed to be him. Hernandez throws his fast ball 93. Tonight 89. Announcers haven't picked up on that.

Of course you can. Traded players just aren't eligible for post season.

Of course you can't because there is the trade deadline - http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/trade-deadline

How is this one a thing?
