Now you're talking.

*And then Neidert/Cabrera to replace Urena

Marlins are 5th in RA in NL after Dodgers, Cubs, Cards, and Reds, and I think we can all agree, we like the minor league pitchers more.
Only Tampa, Cleveland, Houston, and Oakland are objectively better in the AL.
That's quite a spread to be apart of? Probably 6 playoff teams above.
Imagine Cole on top of this.

We all thank you for this. I'm sure he already has the post(s) written though
I'd love it, but there's going to be quite a bit of competition for him out there.

You're the guy who literally only posts negative things about the Marlins, it's your whole gimmick. You're saying we're too negative towards your negativity. ok fella.

5 Years / $170 million on Cole, it'll be coming off the books by the time we hopefully have to start re-signing the guys we have. We could easily maintain a bottom 10 payroll even with that contract on the books.Last edited by Nick; 08-02-2019, 11:29 AM.

Why should I have been open to yet someone else who came in with guns blazing, firing Rich Walz for his Yankee buddy Paul Severino (who is not much better in year two, and is still paired with Mr Yuckity-it-up Hollandsworth - he is just horrible) and firing all the Legends Guys, then seeing the backlash, offers them insults to crawl back to kiss the Jeter ring. Then sending a player on a team friendly contract to Milwaukee who turns out to be the MVP.....so yes I was pretty sour & cranky. Seemed like "same old Marlins".
I now like a LOT of what I see, so please tell me of all my negative posts this last couple of months ?

Romo Romo is such a Marlins playerThis is why doing so poorly on the Yelich trades will take years to overcome. Unless they are willing to spend and spend BIG in the next 2 to 3 years in free agency they killed the rebuild. Looks like Scott is many years away from being a factor in the organization. Why did they take a HS kid when you are doing a rebuild in a division with such tough competition and teams that know what they are doing ? Also if the target date to compete is 2021, shouldn't you have gone with a college kid that would be possibly ready by 2021 ? Scott if he does turn it on, will be at least 2023 before he is ready. I looked at his stats in Clinton and other than BB going up I don't see much improvement. I have watched 3 games (yes a small sample) on MiLB.com and he's had one hit (an infield single) in those 3 games abd K'd 8 times.
Unless they are prepared to actually spend a lot of money on free agency in 2021 I just don't see this organization overcoming the Braves or anyone else unless the Braves have a rash of injuries.
I don't see the attendance doubling in the next 2 years, as long as the austerity budget is in place. So why would you spend a lot of $$$ for a team that will at best finish 3rd place in the division and maybe break 81 wins but barely and that is if a lot of things go right ?
Doom and gloom ? Maybe but at least I don't bury my head in the sand like some here do.Well, I certainly hope so. Because right now it's looking very Loria-esque in many aspects, to anyone on the outside
Been my contention all along, but this seems to escape Fish16 because he just has this urge to be contrary to anything I say.So much of this is 100% on point. The scorched earth approach was NOT the way to go. If you didn't analyze the team and it's fanbase then why did you plunk down $1.2 billion ? It's looking more and more this was more rash than a well thought out ownership group. They went in with a bid and just wanted to get their hands on a franchise. Still, they had MONTHS after winning the bid to do all the research into the fanbase they should have needed, but many of the mistakes they have made, show a lot of either arrogance on their part (I can believe this on Jeter's part) and sloppiness as well. If they thought that people would come back just because Loria was gone and they were new owners deserving loyalty "just because of Derek Jeter", they were extremely naive.
Look the rebuild needed to happen, but their approach was just completely wrong for this market, and attendance is so low not just because of their record but the way, as you, said, their HUGE PR blunders, it immediately caused hubris and people were turned off again. And you may have lost many for good that you could have gotten back but your arrogance cost you years maybe even a generation of regular casual fan attendance.the team has 9 home runs less than the next lowest team Detroit (with 33, Marlins have 24)...it's truly a shit show
