Has there been any indication from the FO that they'll actually do this?

they havent been asked because our beat writers suck. It seems like a no-brainer given the arms that will be in the rotation should Urena be out for the rest of the year or traded and how young they are and how none of them have ever pitcher close to 200 innings ever.

      • The Marlins FO has never been known for their forward thinking as long as I've been a fan.

        • harold ramirez might be a legitimate piece moving forward as a corner outfielder. And cooper too as a solid stop gap 1b if he can stay healthy.

Jordan Yamamoto’s pitch mix & sequencing was great tonight in 7 shutout IP for #Marlins.

While fastball isn’t overpowering (90.8 MPH average), his breaking stuff was really strong. Pitch breakdown:

            34 — Slider
            33 — Four-seam fastball
            20 — Curveball
            8 — Change-up
            4 — Cutter

            • at the very least in guys like Yamamoto and Richards, I think you have very valuable potential multiple inning relievers who's stuff can play up a little more out of the bullpen and dont get hurt by having to face guys 3 times through a lineup.

Ramirez is a fun player to watch play.

Also, digging the new lineup tonight. Rojas quietly having a decent year. You'd have to think he'd be a perfect final piece for a contending team.

miguel rojas aint any teams final piece. he's barely a major leaguer. He's Hech with a slightly better bat and a slightly worse glove who is a good guy in the clubhouse. For the life of me i dont get this talk of him as any kind of trade piece aside from a team willing to throw some IFA money at us for him.

Not sure where youre getting your WAR number from. Fangraphs has him at .6 WAR for the year, almost all of which is due to his glove.

ESPN's number is always a little off but they have him at exactly 0

there is 0 justification for him being a 1.6 WAR guy at this point in the year. For some reason the espn number on his actual page has him at 0. If miguel rojas is at 1.6 WAR for year that would to me be a damning indication of WAR and how it is calculated, not an indication of a good Rojas year. For the life of me i dont get the love for the guy. He is a flat out terrible hitter who has no business being anywhere close to an MLB regular. A team could use him as a nice defensive replacement in the 9th, but that's about the extent of what his role will be on any actual good team.

a 1.6 WAR for rojas at this point in the year with 0 hr's, bad OBP, horrendous slugging, and bad base stealing efficiency is either WAR being calculated wrong or his defense being given wayyyyy to much weight in whatever formula they are using.

                          • .2 higher than your boy Elvis Andrus in 25 fewer ABs.

                            • that's close to the equivalent of a 4 WAR year over 162 games for a player who has a .658 OPS, 0 HR's, and only 13 XBH's in 230 ab's coming into the game. That's absurd

Andrus is hitting over .300, close to an .800 OPS, more than double the XBH's that Rojas has in only 30 more ab's, and is 14/16 in SB. Id say that WAR stat is fucked up for rojas or they are completely overvaluing the shit out of any 1 player's defensive impact on a team.

I'll go by fangraphs which has Rojas at a justifiable .6 WAR and andrus at a 1.8

                              • I was similarly surprised to the WAR stat, but I'm just reporting the facts. I still think he'd be the perfect utility guy on a contending team.
