At that point, if you're going to play a .622 OPS outfielder, it might as well be Brinson.

In his defense, Brinson is hitting .294/.380/.503 (.391 BABIP), 6 HR, 9.2% BB, 27.6% K in AAA. At least the BB rate is back. Maybe you just keep him down until September to really drill it into his head to stop swinging at everything.

lou, as usual, you think things through way more than our front offices do.

Didn’t they already (needlessly) lose service time on Brinson when they started him in CF on Opening Day in 2018? I realllly doubt they’re keeping him in the minors for 10 more days because of service time implications.

    • Another one of our 3ish ERA guys with a 5+ xFIP on the mound today vs the Pirates.

Sandy Alcantara faces Chris Archer. I’ll be at the ballpark.

No we had JT and didn't need Carson Kelly!! If we got Kelly we would have had to move him and his value would have declined

Actually at 1 point we were trying to get him but St Louis wouldn't talk him so we just talked arms

        • Kinda sucks. I am not as high on Alfaro as some are(he reminds me way too much of Miguel Olivo. Alfaro is better defensively but their bats are eerily simiar).

I'm intrigued by new Marlin Tyler Heineman, catcher at New Orleans.

Yes, but that's all I got!

He's grading out pretty well there this year (and regressing from 2018 defense in RF). Small sample sizes though.

I'm fine with him at 3B, but to beat the dead horse, they should give Anthony Rendon all the monies and let Anderson land at 1B, LF, or RF depending on how everyone else develops.

                    • idk if he can stick as a starter, but Elieser's curveball has impressed me a lot. He looks like hed be a really positive set up guy or multiple inning reliever.

                      • can we get starlin castro the fuck out of here already? The dude stinks and we arent getting more than IFA money for him. So sick of these awful vets we have.

Castro almost looks like he's given up these last couple of games. So now we're getting shitty play and poor effort.

Great outing by Hernandez too bad the rest of the team is a dumpster fire.

                          • I could go without seeing Austin Brice pitch for the marlins anymore. His numbers arent terrible but good god we've been following him since he was coming up with us, the guy just isnt good and has really never been good at any point in the minors either. Relievers with terrible walk rates might be my least favorite thing in baseball

Im just so ready to turn the page and deal all these vets and bring guys like Diaz up. Brinson id wait for the service time since its only another week or 2 at this point. Monte id also wait till september and just give him the full AAA year given that he's been injured for a few weeks and his K rate needs to improve in AAA first. As for Brinson, they should have done it last year but might as well at this point. His K rate is still too high anyways so id let him sit there till the first few weeks of july and hope he can stick with the improved results overall but also improved plate discipline, which is his biggest issue.

Let'em all start until July 31, 2020 and then make the bullpen decisions.

They should absolutely keep Brinson down until his service clock rolls over to sub .171 days (which is any day now, maybe if bored I'll do the math), but they should also just keep him down and get his confidence up. I don't think a "good" 175 PA all of a sudden absolves him of the terrible 543 PA at the MLB level. I say let him rake AAA pitching for a LONG time and get his confidence up as much as possible. Who cares about the MLB squad right now. Call him up in mid-August or September when rosters expand (and other teams are throwing more crap in their rotation to further help him) and see if another 2 months in AAA fixes him to at least a .230/.300/.425+ guy with good defense in a corner. Also, keep him down 50-60 more days and you knock out Super2 status. You can keep him at league minimum for 2020 and 2021 if you wait until around this time in August. I think I do that as that gives you 2 years to evaluate him versus having to make a choice of paying him $2-3 million in 2021.

Diaz, call up whenever you want at this point as long as we have confidence we're past the super 2 deadline. Let him rip.

I wouldn't call up Monte until after the Super2 deadline in 2021. Yea, he is doing better this year, but the BABIP is .398 (first day below .400 all year!) and he has a 30.5% K rate (which is better, but is still 30.5%). No rush here. Another 5 months in AAA doesn't hurt him. If he absolutely rakes here on out, I'd only move up the timeline to mid-April 2020, to basically get the 7th year of control and accept the 4th arbitration year. i.e., Kris Bryant him.

I'm not sure what's wrong with him. He knows this is a contract year (the option will be declined) which is shocking as this is his payday. He did this in 2013 and 2015 too, and then had good rebound periods after that, so who knows. He'll be a free agent bargain for someone next year on a cheap 1 year rehabilitation deal more than likely, but sucks for the Marlins they likely aren't going to get a good RP prospect.

Castro will be dealt with cash for IFA Pool money.Minnesota/TB/some low market team with IFA cash open will probably get him. Sign Cappe and/or Yo Sanchez is goal so any amount is positive
