good, ive never understood their obsession with both kinley's. im pretty sure we have had multiple kinley's in the organization at one point who kept moving up, neither of whom were ever any good.

      • I guess Alcantara and Eovaldi have similarities in lack of K’s but I actually think Alcantara has better stuff. Most notably, Alcantara’s changeup is pretty good. He just has to throw strikes more consistently. He’s had about 3 games this year where he comes in firing strikes, and he’s proven he’s capable of going the distance. With more time, I think he’ll be fine. Before the first run he gave up last night, he struck out Kolten Wong on one of the nastiest pitches I’ve seen this year.

        • Jordan Yamamoto has apparently been recalled and will be on the roster on Wednesday. No word on who he is replacing. Is someone else hurt? Is Urena on the move? He is tomorrow's scheduled starter...

Ya i just meant similarities in terms of inconsistency throwing strikes. Eovaldi was definitely more of a K guy but allowed hard contact from what i remember, whereas Sandy somehow has better stuff but less swings and misses but generates much weaker contact

yamamoto is a super weird callup right now, but if i had to venture a guess, they dont trust any of the relievers in AAA, Ferrell isnt ready yet, and maybe just want to give yamamoto a taste out of the bullpen for a few weeks? Ferrell is re-starting his rehab in jupiter i believe tonight, so maybe this is just until he comes up.

Who are some of the AAA relievers we just by passed to call him up? Jarlin is already up here right? Is noesi on the 40 man? My guess is they just dont like any of the AAA relievers and yamamoto is already on the 40, so they didnt want to have to DFA anyone when they know ferrell is coming up shortly.

Actually, given that it says he will be called up tomorrow, this is a spot bullpen duty for a few days. elieser starts tonight, then gets sent down for yamamoto afterwards so we have an extra bullpen arm for a few days, then smith is supposedly going to be ready for the next start. Now that i think that out, if it is the case that yamamoto is coming up AFTER tonight's game where Elieser starts, he is just here for an extra bullpen arm before we reactivate Smith before his next start.

Actually, Smith likely is going to miss a few turns - https://twitter.com/DuseReport/statu...37959379087362

                So I think this means:

-Gallen wasn't on normal scheduling patterns to pitch today, so Hernandez gets the nod
-Elisier down tomorrow and stays on normal rest, Yamamoto is a longman/mop up until as an extra arm. I mean the alternatives are Keller, Kinley, and Ferrell, and Yamamoto is closer than Guzman and Holloway. Noesi not on 40. They should keep him stretched out in case they need him.
-Gallen gets the next start when Caleb's start is back and Yamamoto/whoever is sent down/DFA'd. This also hedges a few more days on Super2 status if they aren't as cocky as the Astros are w/ Alvarez

                Gallen is coming

I think I agree, but Eovaldi had a lot of arm talent too. Sandy does have some really nasty stuff when he rips a good one off.

Eovaldi averages 2.5 WAR for his career exactly over 180/IP. We all take that in a heartbeat with Sandy right?

Sandy is currently pacing 2.1 this season over 180 IP BTW. If we're thinking he is their 4th/5th best longterm SP option after Sixto, Caleb, Pablo, and possibly Gallen, I think we take that in a heartbeat and this pitching staff may make us all real happy in 2021.

Jose Urena will be going on the IL. Jordan Yamamoto will be starting tomorrow. Nothing officially announced. Nor do we know what exactly is wrong with Jose at this time. Was at park earlier. #Marlins

and he immediately deleted it. why are people so stupid on social media? never understood the need to let everyone know your every thought and feeling.

                        • Gallen has a 1.57 ERA in AAA to Yamamoto's 3.58 ERA in AA. Obviously unprofessional to tweet that but I understand his frustration.

                            • But Yamamoto I think was already on the 40 man roster so that explains why it happened this way.
