Sandy has the 2nd lowest exit velocity rates in baseball (Maeda is # 1 last I checked). If he stops walking people with this frequency, he's going to be really good just from suppressing hard contact. If the K rate follows, he's a legit monster.

I get their fascination with him, but they really got to figure out how to decrease the walks and increase the whiffs or they need to turn him into a max effort high leverage RP. Thankfully, they have 30-40 more starts to figure that out without sacrificing anything.

Get him in contract with Trevor Bauer and have him figure out how he brought his walk rate down. Completely agreed though, he has a unique ability to avoid hard contact. The walks absolutely kill him at times though. He's definitely a huge possible rotation piece moving forward.

It’s been like that for 4 years. He’s an awful manager.

Well, also the bullpen isn't very good. Guerrero's been either our best or 2nd best reliever this year and he didn't get the job done today. Conley miraculously got out of the 7th. Probably should've had Brice start the 8th, but even when he was in there he walked the one guy he faced on 4 pitches. Chen coming in was way dumb, but the writing was on the wall at that point.

do they really have a choice but to hold onto conley? he's been bad for going on what, almost a full calender year now?
