Why would it be so hard to convince Rendon to come here next year?
Is it because of all of the playoff success the Nationals have?
It's not going to be. They can offer $175-200 million over 7, give him an opt out after 4, no state income tax, partial no-trade, and can easily sell a core of Smith/Pablo/Sixto/Gallen/Neidert in the rotation, a deep bullpen of Guzman/Cabrera/Holloway/Alcantara/Anderson, a few position players in Alfaro/Anderson/Diaz/OneOfTheOFHasToWorkOutJesusChrist, immediately sign 1-2 Didis and 1-3 Walker/Romo/Rojas types, and have a decent farm with Scott/Devers/Garret/Rogers/Stewart/Banfield and super premium drafts picks 19-20.
I mean they stink right now, but there is a lot to like here longterm if they do it right and get an Alpha beast like Rendon.
This is ignoring some teams may not want to give up the draft picks, IFA cash, and teeter into luxury tax land too to get him.
All-In. I'd have preferred Xander, but given he signed, this will do.

Maybe Chad Wallach can hit his body weight and be a solid backup?
You think you could specify between tjfla's opinion and tjfla's inside info in your posts? kthx
If the Marlins sign someone like Didi for 4 years next year, do you know how old Devers is in 2024?
24. Monte turns 24 in August.
I mean maybe he is the natural and ready at 21/22, but there is no rush here. He's 19 and probably weighs 160. I say, full seasons in A+, AA, and AAA. Maybe he is a mid-season 22 call up if Diaz sucks.
a reminder that we would need to go 29-88 the rest of the way to get to Maddawg's annual absurd win total prediction
Dude this gets old. Come on quit it man. If feels that everyday you're posting some sort of stuff here saying about Maddawg. You're either in love with him or care too much about his opinion. Let's talk about the Marlins and forget about it

Yes, this.
Call him out when he says it I guess, but there's no need to continually randomly and unnecessarily bring it up just to stir the pot.
So Harold Ramirez clearly looks like the first spark to the Marlins offense all season. Neil Walker also starting to play closer to his career average.
The Marlins didn't need to start ranking to win some games...they just needed to not continue a MLB worst pace. Marlins starting pitchers are league average (15th in ERA). Even a bottom 20 offense could get the team to 70 wins at the end. Still don't know if they can do that, but there's a window for it.
We are streaking. 15 wins on the yr boys! I have watched exactly 1 game total all yr. My level of interest in this team has killed me. I follow box scores and thats it.

For one, I am much impressed with Wallach's improved approach at the plate. In fact, i'd like to see him get the majority of catching opportunities. Alfaro is mostly slapstick in the batter's box, and not in a good way. Most of his at bats are a complete waste of time ... and an out ... and not improving at all.
