Thanks for breaking that down. I said when they (finally) sent him down that I want to see him rake in AAA for at least a month before they even think about bringing him back up. That would solve service time issues on top of hopefully giving him some confidence back.

Joe Frisaro in his infinite wisdom looked at his last 10 games (in which he's hitting .344) and says "oh he's done enough, call him back up". When someone pointed out is that enough games, he responded with "yes, bc I wouldn't have said it if it weren't enough". Brilliant. Joe's an idiot.
I'm with you, this is a longterm thing. I want a month of him raking with no negatives - like his current 30% whiff rate in the minors or outlier .429 BABIP in AAA right now. He needs to show us 2017 AAA numbers, or whatever the equivalent is to who he is as a player now.

There is no rush at all. They aren't making the playoffs and he's not filing the stands.

    • Fangraphs wrote a whole article about how historically bad the Marlins are - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-marl...ot-at-history/

TLDR - Around a 6% shot to be under 50 wins and .006% chance under 40. They are having one of the worst 11 starts since the modern era began in the 1960s.

        Fangraphs, why you so negative?

Or that it’s the team’s only homer this month, hit by a 29-year-old rookie named Jon Berti? I kid you not.
        Woah.

When I moved to the US in 2013 I have no ideia why I chose the Marlins to be a fan off. I guess I'm sticking with them now. My only excuse is that they are the hometown team.

I totally agree with Maddawg in this matter. If we want to have any support from any fan base we gotta make this team at least fun. Not scoring runs is the worst it can happen to the team.

One thing that bothers me here on this forum is that you guys deal and trade guys in a vacuum. "It should've been this or no deal for Ozuna". "The Marlins messed up Yelich's trade". We know 1% of what is really going on in the front office. Maybe, just maybe, the Brewers were the only ones who made a real offer. Same thing with the Cardinals. We have no ideia. Same with JT. In the end we have no ideia what other teams offered. Most people here assume they would do a better job as a GM or CEO and it's a fricking joke.

I get what you're saying. But the argument with Yelich is that we didn't HAVE to trade him. He was on a team friendly deal with 5 years of control left at that point. There was ZERO need to rush a deal just to do a deal. If that was the only deal offered, you can pass. The other deals were different with only 2 years of control left, and I didn't mind the other ones.

Have you met tjfla? We know exactly what's going on with FO on a daily basis.

              • Per Fangraphs, who actually use numbers and stuff to make predictions, the Marlins currently have less than a 2% chance of winning less than 50 games.

Actually 6%, see lou's post a couple posts above.

6.73% chance of 49 or fewer wins. 0.33% for Maddawg's magical 43 wins or fewer.

Yep. You just don't trade him with 5 years of control.

And then how the hell do you double up the OF and not get Hiura instead of Diaz and Burnes/Woodruff.

So many problems with that deal. It's an F and hopefully it's not as bad as Miggy.

                    • I think Berti gets a bit too much guff just because the state of the club. He would be a solid utility guy on a good team and it is a bit surprising it took him so long to make the majors.
