The oddity about the Denbo story is that it says he made the trades with analytics instead of old fashioned scouting in mind which is odd because analytic analysis would tell you to steer clear of Brinson, Harrison, Diaz, and Magnerius Sierra while old fashioned scouting would tell you to ignore the analytics because of the "eye test".

I’m not in the mood to defend this front office, but you’re wrong.
WHEN DO YOU START SHOWING YOUR FAN BASE THAT YOU’RE KEEPING GOOD PLAYERS?????
Your skull: it’s so so thick.
If you think this fan base will come back with anything other than a contender you’re fooling yourself. Good teams, especially good small market teams, don’t make decisions based on trying to prove a point to your fan base. I’m not saying I’d automatically trade him, just saying it makes no sense given our current crop of hitting prospects and the possible value you can get for smith to keep him unavailable. I’m perfectly cool keeping him long term depending on how they choose to otherwise address the hitting situation. No one should be unavailable given our sp depth and our complete dearth of hitting in the system

Hey hey on topic we won a game tonight. This offense is just horrendous to watch and I’d give alcantara another 2 months in aaa, let him pitch in the rotation August and September and if we don’t see improvements then consider the transfer to the bullpen given our SP options
Bring up gallen or, if we would benefit by keeping him down a little longer, bring up elieser for a little and sss what hopens
Watching Paddack, Castillo, and German almost makes me ill. And it is not because "traded young arms for something". It is that they were almost determined to trade them and in moves that didn't make a lick of sense. Paddack for Rodney was just a horrible trade even at the time. They were determined to trade Castillo for whatever reason, like they couldn't wait to get him out of the organization, and for what? Dan Strailey, a guy who was almost 30 and never more than a backend starter? I guess the German move is more defensible but the others just weren't.

That Denbo story is more awesome PR for the team. It's also more proof that Mike Hill is a complete figurehead PR mouthpiece at this point. What other FO guy, who is not technically the head decision maker (aka GM) for any team gets this type of article written about him?
WHAT? Mike Hill is only the GM to go on TV and Meetings and Denbo is dealing with decisions in the minors right now?

Everyone knows Mattingly loves going with same 3 RP but they really need to start sending guys down and calling up fresh arms.
Fernandez and Ferrell will be up by July but we have atleast 4/5 arms(SP and RP) in AAA who could be in the majors getting looks instead of wearing out Anderson,Steck,Conley
I think the pitching will figure itself out over the course of the year. The hitting needs to be overhauled immediately though. They need to get rid of berti, Galloway, and Herrera for dean, riddle, and ramirez. If we’re gonna be bad at least evaluate young talent that is crushing aaa

speaking of ramirez, any idea why the Jays DFA'd him? did they just not have enough roster room? Cause it seems like I see guys all the time that were actual prospects or legitimate major leaguers that they just DFA. They did it with Sam Dyson too and there was one other guy whose name I cant remember who they just got rid of for nothing as well.

I can't believe people want to trade Smith or Anderson either. Those are exactly the kind of breakouts the team needs to start developing a core - a core said fan base needs to see sticking around.
They can trade Chen, Romo, Castro, Prado, Walker, and Granderson, and if they get a good deal (as they have 2+ years of service time at minimum), Conley, Steckenrider, Urena, and Rojas. I mean that is a shitload of guys they can move this summer.
Everyone else stays. Everyone. Who knows what's going to happen.
Smith and Pablo turning into a 2/3, or 3/3, is a best case scenario.
If you deal Urena for a decent bat and deal Smith for say Alvarez and another Isan Diaz level prospect you would drastically help our hitting prospect depth while still having Alcantara, Lopez, Sixto, gallen, Richards, Halloway, Braton Garret, rogers, cabrera, stewart, guzman, yamamoto, and any FA additions.
Not a single guy on that list outside of Lopez has shown that he can pitch in the majors. Smith has. You don’t trade someone cost-controlled in the majors because someone in the minors maybe might pitch well. If those guys come up and they suddenly have 6 or 7 guys who look good against major league pitching, that’s a time you can look into trading Smith.
I just think Marlins fans are conditioned to see a young player perform well and think “better trade him before he’s a free agent”. That’s not the way most teams operate.

Think he was hurt and looked like crap LY. They needed the roster spot I think to protect other guys. This is the thing people dont realize when they are like just add the guy to the 40 man even if they dont have to-when u are in a roster crunch u lose solid players

Yes. 100%.
If in August 2020, Urena has already been moved, and all of a sudden Sixto, Smith, Lopez, Gallen, Neidert, Alcantara, and Stewart all look capable of 30 starts, you can move two of them for bats, and then sign a free agent SP to still have depth to account for an injury.

Exactly u trade Romo,Grandy,Walker,Prado,Castro and if solid offers(NOT Top 5 prospect like they wanted LY) u talk Conley,Steck,Urena,Rojas and Anderson
Now if some team offers u a crazy offer(u know like Jeff used to do) for Smith,Lopez,Gallen then u consider it
Eventually they will have to make decisions because of the 40 man but they are fine right now
