  • id like to see what ben meyer could do out of the bullpen given that he's not really a long term starting option anyways.

he was pretty horrid for the twins.

id like to see us dfa rivera for riddle, tazawa for meyer, and send brinson down for van slyke.

or maybe austin dean honestly if he keeps up his hot start for another week or so.

Last season the Marlins were 12-17 through 29 games. This season they’re 11-18.

    • Maybe when Elieser or Graves come back, they eventually replace Tazawa.

oh true, i completely forgot about elieser. he'll probably be the guy to replace him. although now that i think of it he'll actually probably replace merandy when he is ready just to get merandy to start every 5 days instead.

        • I would assume that Cloyd goes when Hernandez is ready.

Also, I would think that Rivera goes down for Riddle...and when that happens, I would send Schuck down for Van Slyke to add a right-handed bat to the bench.

Kinley is Brian Ellington with worse command. Diaz probably get a look before him-actually surprised they didnt work out a trade with Minn for him

schuck should never have been the guy to get the call when cooper went on the DL in the first place. made no sense. Van slyke has earned a chance.

I’ve thought for a while about how funny would it be if this team did the same or better than last year’s team.

we wont, but each of the 3 outfielders we traded are having a bad start to the year. I thought Ozuna was the most obvious regression candidate in the league. Dee gordon is having a good year, but a lot of it is based on his last 3 games as he was rocking a .671 OPS 3 games ago and is up to .802 now after a 3 game hot stretch.

The Jeter "I know better then you" press conference at the end of the year would be incredible for sure

                    • we wont be better, but i think we are so much better long term now than we were before, especilly if guys like dunand, monte, and diaz have really nice seasons. I think its not talked about enough how just a month into the rebuild our future pitching situation is 10X better than it was at the end of last year. At the very least i think we have 3-4 really solid mid-back of the rotation pieces and a dominant, cost controlled future bullpen. If we can do that we can (can being the operative word there) sprinkle in a smart free agent hitting or SP piece in a few years to become a contender if we wanted or just stick to the process and continue building from within. IF 1-2 of these SP prospects can overachieve and become a front line starter, look out.

                      • It wouldn't shock me if we finish with 77 wins (like last year), or somewhere around that number.

i see around 70 being the peak. I still think we dont have a very good lineup because we lack power and none of our hitting prospects will likely be coming up this year or at the very most not coming up until september, plus we will likely trade a lot of guys off. I think the pitching will get us to around 65-70 wins, but with a much brighter outlook on the future than it looked like we'd have coming into the year. 77 wins is a lot so i dont think we'll get there, but our future (as far as potential for significant winning) is much brighter now than it was last year even with the OF we had.

                          • Not gonna be winning much after July 31. Get rid of vets and start playing guys to see what they got

Our lineup sucks, but it should be better than their current performance. Not a single hitter has outperformed expectations. I also expect Brinson to adjust at some point, hopefully similar to what Byron Buxton showed in the 2nd half last year. Even if he struggles, it's hard to imagine he'll be this abysmal offensively all year.

As for the pitchers, most of the guys who struggled early on are not on the roster currently, and the only one outperforming expectations is Jarlin Garcia.

Not saying this team is good obviously, but I think 70-75 wins can happen. Not far off from past years, really.

Yeah but some of our vets kinda suck anyway. Who are they getting rid of?
