The only thing I can guess on him not being here yet is the FO really believes in him and wants to protect Super 2 status.

I really don't see how else you can justify sending Brad Hand out there instead. Which is saying a lot, as I don't think any of us are really high on Nicolino.

When have they been protective of super 2 status before?
I want to see him because they seem to be so high on him

Stanton, Volstad, and Cabs that I can remember. I'd also consider Yelich and LoMo, but they were more late july call ups rather than "deadline has passed, call them up already" like Stanton was.

Cabs also might be wrong. I don't remember enough of '03. But he was called up just at the deadline, so that makes me think they were conscious of it.
