  • Really seems like the team has folded.

    • Losing 6 games in a row at Baltimore and at St Louis stings but it’s not inconceivable

Losing 2 of 3 to the Rockies in Miami would be totally unacceptable

        • I’m done following this team. I’ve wasted 20 fucking years and 6.5 years of a horrendous rebuild trying to convince myself this team can be good again at some point and when they finally get good again pulling a move like sending down eury is the ultimate fuck you. Lou can continue to think a supposed billionaire saving a few million 5 years from now is the coolest and most badass thing since sliced bread, but I’m done following this shit. There is no payoff. This is not a serious franchise. This is not a serious owner. Maybe they pull me back in eventually but I’m done wasting my time and money on a non serious product. At least with teams like the dolphins they may suck but at least I know their incompetent owner at least cares about and will do whatever it takes to win. This guy is a fucking non serious clown. The eury cueto move to save money combined with starting okert in game 3 out of the all star break in the best year in 20 years is the final straw for me. I’m sure the decision to start cueto tomorrow despite no fucking shot of him working out simply because he is owed money will work out swimmingly.

I’ll be back in 5 years when Lou is still falling for the trick of this clown spending money in the next offseason on the hot free agents in December

          Not. A. Serious. Franchise.

          • The FO didn’t do enough in the off-season, then didn’t do enough when the team outplayed expectations. It’s the story of the Sherman-regime. Content to not do enough.

Yeah sure, whatever you say lol.

Perhaps the team just played much better than expected and is regressing to the mean as many thought before.

That move isn’t the reason for the team hitting less than .200 with RISP in the 2nd half or the reason why the other pitchers have sucked too.

If anything, Cueto has been the best pitcher in the 2nd half throwing 3 scoreless innings somehow. He will probably get destroyed tomorrow because he sucks of course.

Either way, these guys are supposed to be professionals, not mental midget fans.

The team was one of the top 10 offenses in baseball for like a two month stretch in a bunch of categories and a top 10 pitching staff in baseball and they sent down their best pitcher for financial reasons. It’s not about being mental midgets, it’s about saying fuck you to every guy in that clubhouse and sent a message that this team doesn’t give a flying fuck about winning. They also, and of course more importantly, made their team actively and significantly worse in the process. Brilliant fucking move. If only it could be foreseen that sending down your best player could affect the team both in terms of morale and relatedly on the field performance. Even to this day this team is +30 or something against every team other than the juggernaut braves. And they actively made them worse. It’s not a serious franchise. The sooner you realize that the better it will be for you.

also, the other pitchers have sucked in no small part due to the fact that the bullpen is stupid overworked, which is due in no small part to the fact that they decided to send down one of the best pitchers in baseball for purely financial reasons and start Steven okert for a third of an inning to get completely fucking shelled in the third game out of the all star break

I don’t think the move destroyed the team mentally, but it does say a lot that since Bruce made the statement that he was going to be willing to open up the purse strings to help the team, the major move that was made was to send down our best pitcher and call up a guy who had been absolutely decimated by minor leaguers in every one of his starts. Both moves made with the opposite of spending money being the motivating factor.

                  • There's no fucking plan here, not willing to make moves when we're in a golden position to make the playoffs, and not willing to invest money in re-signing guys like Arraez and Luzardo to ensure our future is secure in years to come, but sure willing to make sure our young stud makes less money and has to wait an extra year for free agency. They didn't hesitate for that.

It’s all about money. That’s why I’m done. The eury move while 14 over is the final straw. The lack of taking care of their own guys with extensions is infuriating as well. A smart team would have any sense of vision and extended eury in spring like I suggested. This team has 0 vision to be able to run itself competently and smartly. It is infuriating to watch

                      • I’m not saying I agree with the moves they’re making and I don’t even like Bruce Sherman, but the reality is that the team isn’t playing well and you’re just looking for reasons to hate the front office if you think it’s simply because of the Eury move.

Braxton Garrett throwing batting practice tonight has nothing to do with the Eury move, he’d be in the rotation regardless. He’s also regressing somewhat, which I guess should’ve been expected.

Jesus Luzardo pitching like crap the other day had nothing to do with the Eury move.

Sandy Alcantara being a mid #4 all year has nothing to do with the Eury move.

Luis Arraez being mid since the All-Star Break instead of a .400 hitting god has nothing to do with the Eury move. He’s regressing a bit which should have definitely been expected since basically no one in the history of baseball has done what he was doing.

The team is honestly getting less breaks than they did in the 1st half too, it is what it is. We’ve had multiple games in this 7 game losing streak where we’ve even said “the xBA is probably over .300” or something like that. Liners getting caught, more than a few with men on base. Not tonight obviously, but, either way, the offensive struggles would have nothing to do with the Eury move either lol.

We’re not losing because of team morale. If anything, we’re probably finding out that we were lucky to be 14 over .500. Probably still lucky to be 7 over .500, really. It is what it is.

The front office should make a trade for veteran pieces but they haven’t done it yet. That part of it is lame, especially since Bruce Sherman has been a shit owner from day 1.

Lol obviously being done with this team was hyperbolic. If I could not like this team I would have done so years ago. It’s just maddening that In the best year in literally 20 years they are making money moves. This is my team. I wish it wasn’t because being a fan of this team has a negative return in investment. But they had a clear opportunity and they made a fucking money move that actively made this team significantly worse. We threw okert in game 3 out of the all star break when we have eury and it has helped completely fuck up this already bad bullpen.

it is money driven in a year where they had a real opportunity to buy some goodwill with a tattered fan base. This guy has 0 fucking vision for this team. It’s sending eury down, it’s not seeing what you have and extending him very early, it’s not signing anyone to extensions. It is a complete disgrace the way this team is run. If he does not have the money to run this team in a way that a major league owner should, he needs to sell the team to someone who actually will. The guy is just as bad if not worse than loria in most areas. It’s loria who just isn’t meddlesome. Other than that it’s the same fucking thing rinse and repeat
