Was Sandy a fluke? Never seen such a regression from one year to the next from a pitcher who is supposedly not injured.

yet another huge inning from sandy. and im sure he will finish strong and we will all try to convince ourselves he will be better the next game. rinse. repeat. Something is wrong with him mechanically with guys on base.

The shift ban and pitch clock aren't helping him but he did consistently outpitch what his peripherals said he should be throwing. His ERA was almost a full run lower than his FIP, xFIP, as xERA last year. His BB were a full run lower. He barley had 8 K/9. But his BABIP against was like .250.

He was a 3rd starter somehow getting ace level results. And that is kind of what he has always been.

He is not a fluke, but expecting his career numbers is what to expect versus 2022 moving forward. Which is still a tremendous player.


I did expect the bottom to drop out in August, but to do this first 6 in this fashion *yikes.* If they whiff on Colorado and Tampa pounds them, we're going to rapidly move to what can we get for Soler, Scott, Wendle, Cooper, etc. This is quite the turn of events. Get ready for Maddawg!
