smeltzer has given up 4 hr's in 5 fucking innings. in spring he had a 15 era with 4 hr's in 4.2 innings as well. there cannot possibly be a single person in the front office who has seen anything he has done since spring started and thought he belongs up here. To guarantee him a million and for that now to be losing games for us with them clearly not bringing okert up here because they arent going to send him down because of the guarantee is the height of mismanagement. DFA him.

don't know how that's related to Floro's availability, but yeah it looks like a horrible miscalculation by the FO.

completely avoidable loss. Skip managed terribly, DLC puts together awful ab's in key moments, Garcia is one of the worst players in baseball, and smeltzer is not a major league pitcher. Get smeltzer out of here, bring up burdick and okert.

what even was the calculation in the first place. He was legitimately terrible even in spring. Gave up 5 runs in 5 innings with 2 MORE HR's in his 1 AAA outing, and has proceeded to give up another 4 hr's in 2 fucking outings. Combined spring, his 1 minor league appearance, and his 2 major league appearances, he has given up 10 hr's in 14.2 innings. How the fuck does he get called up in the first place. Especially since he wasnt on the 40 man to begin with if im not mistaken. How does that happen to a front office who is remotely competent?

at this point with garcia, why is he even starting against a righty, and at the very least why isnt he being pinch hit for with sanchez on the bench in that spot. i get sanchez hasnt exactly lit the world on fire, but at a certain point the contract is what the contract is, if you continue to play him you are actively harming the team. Idk if they are going to have to fake an injury with him or just flat out bench him for most of the year, but if this continues they have to do something. they cant keep allowing him to destroy the team in big moments.

on the bright side, the bullpen outside of smeltzer and lindgren could not have been better to start this year. and lindgren and smeltzer really should have never been on the roster. all in all, you cant ask for more out of your pen then 7 scoreless innings after having to come in during the 3rd inning

chen and heath bell come to mind. unfortunately we seem to have a ton of them here, specifically hitters. Also junichi tazawa and brad ziegler could not have gone worse here too. This ballpark has been a nightmare since it opened in terms of free agents coming here and shitting the bed.
