Why resign them when you can get a load of prospects - Madrigal is really good and they got a few FV45 guys - and then go nuts in a strong free agent class.

madrigal is really the only guy they got that I'm super high on. they didn't get another single elite prospect. And why re-sign them? Because they are really good players. Bryant specifically. I don't have a problem with Baez or Rizzo for different reasons but you cant tell me they couldn't re-sign one of them. Was the haul for Bryant significant enough to make it a better option than spending the money we all know they have to keep a cornerstone player and all star talent in his prime?

I usually don't love a soft rebuild but they were in a very good position to do so. They didn't need to blow it up like they did and pretty much. guarantee a very long rebuilding process yet again.

our fire sales get shit on, and rightfully so, but the actual moves werent terrible, it was that the moves had to happen to begin with. To me all the moves after the fire sales, especially under loria, are what killed this team. This team under loria lacked so much depth because they were the dumbest team in the league and operated as a small market franchise who didnt have a plan, didnt value young depth and minor league talent, and didnt invest in the draft and IFA.

I mentioned that exact hypothetical for those 2 Orioles before, but I went with sending them an entire play-now 6 man rotation:

Pablo/Sandy
Sixto (more service time than Cabrera)
Meyer
Hernandez
Neidert/Garrett
Thompson/Poteet

Would be awesome. It's hard to judge what the two Orioles are worth, but 3 elite pitchers, and 3 back of the rotation guys starts getting interesting. Especially if some buy lows (Isan, Monte, Scott) are thrown in and maybe they get lucky.

I'm fine rolling with Pablo/Sandy, Rogers, Cabrera, Luzardo, and two of Neidert/Garrett/Thompson/Poteet, with Eder on the way. They can afford to sign a veteran SP on a 2-3 year deal getting a C and CF, as well as still go for broke with Correa as no one still makes any money on the team.

We can dream.

i dont understand why they brought him up without a minor league start to begin with. he was clearly struggling. Let him work this shit out in AAA and dont waste his service time on bad innings in a lost year.

So my wife and I watched a 45 minute show after the top of the 2nd inning. It was 4-1 Cubs when I switched. I change it back and it’s 12-4 Marlins still in the 2nd inning.

There is more of an argument to keep Cabrera down until next year for service time issues. It's a full year of control keeping him down until mid-April.

But yea, Luzardo probably needs some work. I think you throw Thompson, Garrett, Neidert, and Poteet as much as they can handle. Let's see what is there. Let Pablo and Elisier come back slowly, and not sure what is going on with Rogers but no need to rush him back. Let the secondary guys rip.
