  • I do not want to see Lewis Brinson anymore.

Put Lewin Diaz in the outfield and tell Brinson to take a hike already. Dude already had his chance(s).

    Try anybody else, really.

I'd like to see some positive outings in AAA for Luzardo before we put him in the rotation.

Brian Miller is a worse Sierra.

      • Jesus Aguilar is seriously going to block Lewin Diaz’s playing time for the next 2 months, that’s really not in line with the direction the organization took today. Makes no sense.

Even if he’s worse than Sierra, he’s not Sierra. At least we get to watch a new terrible OF. So there’s that.

because all other front offices know that they aren't worth what the Front office wanted back. These people seem to overplay their hand and it often comes vack to bite them. They think they are smarter than everyone else...in 3+ years they shown some smartz but not enough to even build a respectable MLB team.....

            The never-ending rebuild continues....

              • Hell of a catch by De la Cruz there. Looked to be moving like a CFer there to me.

Beyond the Yelich trade which is a clear loser, it's pretty hard to argue with most of their roster moves besides some whiffs with VVM, Scott, and Misner, but those happen.

Practically, if we consider a normal rebuild is probably 3 years, we're talking 3-4 premium draft picks. Add in they had 3 premium assets to move (Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto.... Stanton not premium), you'd hope for another 5-6 premium prospects out of them. Combined with a major international spend in one of those years, they should have come out of the rebuild with 9-11 big time prospects, now players. Any other moves developing a player is a bonus.

What flame out rate on top prospects do you want to give them? I think they need to hit on half and that's pretty damn good for longterm assets. Baseball is hard. I think a successful rebuild would be 6+ big time players coming out of their first 3 years of the rebuild. More is incredible.

                    1 - Sandy
                    2 - Rogers
3 - Pablo (got lucky here BIG time)
                    4 - Gallen - > Jazz
5 - Sixto (I think he counts, he's just hurt looks great)
6 - 11 - were whiffs with Brinson, Monte, Diaz, VVM, Scott, and Misner, but some limited hope on the later two. Maybe we can sneak J. Sanchez in here soon and it all looks better on a global view, but I think chances are he isn't a star even if he turns into a solid MLB player.

Big picture, they probably needed to secure 1+ more huge building block to add those 5 to B. Anderson (already secured by organization so he doesn't count here). We can't fault them for lots of dumb deals (Paddack) made by Loria and other bullshit.

It all goes back to they REALLY REALLY REALLY fucked up the Yelich trade. Hit on one of those 3, and a longterm CF would be amazing right now. Hit on 2 of them, and the team would be in serious shape.

Now if we're evaluating them further, combined with the 2020 draft class which is acetastic (understatement), they inherited Cabrera and developed him great, Bleday is an excellent prospect despite this season, they are dipping internationally better (Salas, Capps, etc.), surprising us with some out of nowhere legit prospects (E. Hernandez, Burdick, N. Anderson before moved, many relievers), they went big time in the 2021 draft getting some drops, and making some nice depth moves (Rojas, Aguilar, Cooper, Ca. Smith, Berti, Bleier, Bender, Floro, etc.), they are doing a really good job of building out the team.

And now it's 2022. Yelich debacle set them back a year. The pandemic set them back another one. The $40 million dollar question is - are they going to spend to fix the holes, or are they going to be cheap? I don't know how you look at these pitchers and don't get them some help for next year, but we will see if they do. It's going to be very hard to watch them if they don't get 1500+ premium PA at 2B/SS, CF, and C.

I am optimistic. I don't think they are stupid, but they need to open up the payroll and show us they are here to win. That's when I can join you in bitching with the forever rebuild. Absent Sandy and Rogers blowing out their arms the next two months, there is no reason to not go for it.

They get a pass until free agency opens. *Not Moving Aguilar is dumb, but like, who cares. He'd get a reliever.

I am legit going to freak out if they don't bring in 3 immense bats next year.

Cabrera is probably the team's 5th SP next year and he looks great. And that's if they trade Pablo so there is room for him. SMH

                        • and how do you make going to a Marlins game even more boring ? Ask Kim Ng & Derek Jeter, they're writing the book on how to do it.

                          • I guess I’m in the minority, but I don’t have a problem with not moving Aguilar, unless they turned down something good for him. He’s a pretty decent hitter, and he’s entertaining. If the DH is coming next year he’ll slide in there, and be fine. I’m more upset that they didn’t trade Blier. His value will probably never be higher.

                            • With Taillon on the mound, opposing base runners were successful stealing 25 of 29 times this season. Sierra was on base multiple times vs Taillon, Chisholm and Brian Miller also got aboard. Not one of them attempted a steal. I really don't get it.

                              • Sierra had a nice night in the batters box (2 hits and a walk) but he’s terrible at stealing bases.
