Rojas is an incredible insurance policy for all infielders (on defense alone, ignoring he can hit just enough to be solid anywhere these days), and given the Marlins depth chart, it'll be impossible for him not to get 450-500PA even off the bench. That's worth it to keep him. He's a keep.

They need to transition to "contending" and not just selling to sell. They have widespread youth, clear payroll, and a top 5 farm. They don't need to keep kicking the can down the road, especially for middling guys. They need to move contending and quality in prospects over quantity.

Just saying. We'll see what they do but Marte for a C, 2B/SS, CF and Aguilar/Yimi and other RHP in the current bullpen for lefty relievers is all I want to see.

Then it's time for a Sandy arb buyout, and maybe buying low on getting 2 free agency years of Anderson coming off an injury
I agree, I’m fine keeping Rojas too.

But like you said with Aguilar, it would be a tough decision contractually. They must really hate Cooper (because he can’t stay healthy). Seems like the smarter choice is selling high on Aguilar now and banking on Cooper to stay healthy next season as insurance for Lewin. Or if not Cooper there has to be another right-handed hitting 1B available who is cheaper than Aguilar and can mash lefties.

The way I think about 1B is, Lewin should be given most time ROS 2021, a lot of time April/May 2022, Cooper spells him during all of this time or if he's very bad, and if they both suck June/July 2021, they make a contending move trade and get a bat for 1B. They have the minor league resources to do this for sure.

Lewin and Cooper next year cost half of Aguilar more than likely, and they have to explore Lewin upside. It's a no brainer with these three. This is an easy position group decision.

      • Another option maybe…

Could Aguilar coming back be a sign that we could use Lewin in a package to add a long-term CF’er?

        • Yeah to me Aguilar being gone at the deadline seems like a no-brainer, but Mish seems to have heard otherwise. Oakland or the White Sox would seem like logical destinations. We'll see.

          • marte to a's according to mish. now we see what we get. i wonder if we can get tyler soderstrom their top prospect and a C.. Getting him would be a huge addition but he is still a few years away most likely. Looks like he has good OBP and power for a C though.

            • is the DH for sure coming back next year to the NL? had that been announced or just expected? I fucking hope so I cant stand pitchers hitting.

              • baseball america has oakland as the 29th ranked farm system with soderstrom being their only top 100 guy at number 92. at least we know marte will for sure be hitting the market this offseason and not re-signing with oakland.

                • we really seem to have front office rapport with a few teams- Baltimore, Yankees, san fran, and Oakland always seems interested.

                      • I cannot believe they expected Brinson to get down a bunt. Baffling.

every move he made was dumber than the last. Pinch running for lewin diaz at 2nd for devin merrero to really solidify our inability to score runs if that game went extras. Then he bunts brinson with no outs and 2 on instead of letting him just hit away. And then the worst of all, the person he was setting the table for by attempting to bunt brinson was magneuris fucking sierra who couldnt hit his way out of a wet paper bag if his life depended on it. Just the worst manager and the fact that they brought him back for next year is infuriating.

                          • mish said last night buxton and mullins are not going to be the guys for us and obviously gallo is out. I think they are going to go after a top prospect who is on the brink of the majors to get the full 6 years of team control. who that guy ends up being is the biggest question mark at this point.

On a side note, my god that yankees middle of the order has a ton of power but also an unreal amount of strikeouts.

                            • I wonder if Jo Adell makes a lot of sense for a prospect trade. I would be interested in him very heavily. CF, speed and power, and big league ready immediately plus the angels have needed pitching to complement trout for like 10 years.

                              • Adell's similarities to Harrison and Brinson scare me.

My dream would be to somehow acquire Austin Martin and Gabriel Moreno from Toronto.
