just saw that rogers is scheduled to go against scherzer tomorrow. would be unfuckingbelievable if he can out duel Degrom, Burnes, and Scherzer all before may 3rd.
Pablo, Sandy, and Rogers are the only thing that can keep this year from going off the rails until we get the hitters and Sixto back. This lineup is just so bad right now and you cant really be mad, the injuries are just the worst possible guys that could have gotten hurt. Marte, Jazz, Anderson and then even Alfaro. You gotta be kidding me. Just gotta hope we stay in the hunt till we get healthy and the rest of the division continues to be mediocre. If we can stay in it and get the guys all healthy by june 1, i honestly would consider a bet on us to win the division for the value I think you could get. I think as always the rest of this division was overhyped. If we pull off a surprise and win the division we will be hailed as this wild underdog but this team is legitimately talented and our top 4 SP while healthy can go head to head against any other team in the league.

i dont think paul campbell survives much longer. whether we fake an injury and try to stash him or just return him to the rays. Mish and Jackson had an article kind of intimating that sentiment from the marlins organization last week. They said pop has impressed and is likely to remain on the roster the rest of the year but Campbell is much more up in the air.
Unfortunately due to the injuries and a lot of the SPs being injured or not major league ready we just don't have enough guys currently until at least Elieser comes back.
Ironically, which his entire time here I wanted trevor richards in the bullpen, we could really use a guy like him as the fifth starter who exclusively goes 4-5 innings and rarely if ever faces a lineup 3 times. Same with urena although I'm not exactly sad he's gone. the circumstances have happened though that guys like that as just capable 5th starters would really help us right now.

also brinson obviously is never going to become close to the player we wanted but he's not a bad option against lefties occasionally and a defensive replacement/pinch runner. Unilke sierra he does have some decent tools, he just unfortunately is a 0 at the most important tool, hitting.

and isan diaz's patience is nice and he clearly has talent but he, like brinsons first few years, still seems to be too passive at the plate. Brinson's first few years just seemed like nonstop passiveness at the plate that consistently led to him getting behind in counts and ending up in bad hitting counts. Isan is a little different because his plate discipline is better but it feels like he needs to be more aggressive at the plate when he gets his pitch early in counts.

anderson coming back and hopefully being back to his consistent game will be super helpful, but Garrett cooper desperately needs to get going. duvall's numbers are bad but he has carried us a few games and his numbers will even out, cooper however has looked lost almost all year.

theyve got to get rid of campbell after this one, right? Even trying to stretch out jordon holloway might be a better idea if he can become a 5th starter/opener guy who can at least possibly provide you with something for 4 innings if his recent control improvement is legit

never been happier to be so wrong about a signing. thought aguilar wouldn't last through last year as our 1b just like a mike morse type signing but he has been fantastic and he has been remarkably consistent the last 5 years aside from 1 bad first half with Milwaukee in 2019. And he is phenomenal in the clubhouse. Great signing.
This lineup is legitimately painful to watch right now outside of him though with the injuries

holloway looking really good again. id like to see him either getting more high-leverage opportunities to test him or like I said see if he can do anything decent in the rotation instead of Campbell. the control has been so much better obviously and really that was the only thing holding him back. it's still such a small sample and clearly, he has a track record of awful control so I'm not saying by any stretch of the imagination that it's a solved issue, but his stuff is clearly great so I'd really like to see us take this injury-induced opportunity to see if at the very least he can become a back end option or a better stuff version of Castano who can come in and give us semi-quality innings or be a bullpen guy.
