      • Fangraphs LOVES the Mets’ chance of winning the division (75.9%) that is surprising

It’s a day game after an extra inning night game.

I get it. I think exceptions can be made some times. Alfaro’s only been back from the injury a couple of games.

            • Was a nice run, time to start a new one...one troubling thing, it seems this group doesn't have completely down yet, that killer instinct, but it may come as the season comes on.

              • I wasn't wanting to be mean but how has a player as objectively bad as Donovan Solano lasted so long in the majors?

He has got to be one of the worst regulars in the games history right?

Like he was awful in the minors too so how did he ever even get promoted to MLB to begin with?

                His career is fascinating.

He's hitting .330 in his last 475 ABs. That'll do it.

                  • What a bizarre comment, Todd. It’s sickening for Marlins fans but the guy basically rakes since he left Miami.

He was also in the minors for several years and came back.

His BABIP is well over .400 in San Francisco for his entire stint there and is still a below replacement level player.

Why is "sickening"? Solano was among the worst to ever play for the Marlins in every facet of the game. He never should have even made the majors to begin with.

I dont have to like someone because they played for the Marlins. A player as objectively bad as Donovan Solano being a regular and getting 1500 ABs in the majors is not good for baseball.

Where are you getting this? His WAR is 3.5 since joining the Giants.

                          • 2.5 over 3 seasons according to Fangraphs where his BABIP is well over .400 inflating his numbers which even then aren't particularly good.

                            • I agree he's not great, but there isn't a team in the major leagues that's going to bench a guy hitting .330.

I hate to defend Donovan Solano, but you’re clearly wrong. BABIP is more than just a fluke after a large sample. I don’t think he’s great, but to say he has no business being in the big leagues makes no sense. He’s gotten a lot better as a hitter in SF.
