should have done it last offseason but agreed. Don't forget Braxton garrett if he regains his velocity which I think he will in this more normal season, plus we just drafted an entire draft of pitchers last year. The key moving forward is to finding which are the 5(honestly should probably focus on 6 in case of injuries) that will stick and see what you can get for the other guys to help the lineup, specifically C. That needs to be the only priority moving forward. We have a plan at every other spot on the roster other than C.

    • our run differential is now at least 20 runs better than every other team in the division. When we win we seem to win comfortably a lot and when we lose it is close. if this keeps up over the whole year our record will turn positive soon.

We have 12 losses on the year, 9 have been 2 runs or less, 2 more have been by exactly 3 runs, and the only real blowout was a 7-0 loss to the cardinals and I believe that game was tied at 0 heading into the 7th inning before pablo and the bullpen got lit up late. All losses count the same in the standings but it's an indication this team isn't far off from being a contender with some development from some young bats and the team hopefully gets back to full strength soon with Sixto, BA, and Marte.

      • the bullpen has quietly improved to the point of reliability the last few weeks. Floro, Yimi, and after the first week Bass have been pretty fucking good. And even Zach pop aside from 2 bad outings has shown some potential. He got blown up in 2 outings but he has been pretty good outside of that and a .82 WHIP indicates his numbers will improve over the course of the year. Detwiler has also been reliable and John curtiss has quietly been unhittable.

And don't look now but did Jordan Holloway learn how to throw strikes consistently all of a sudden ? Incredibly small sample but he has everything It takes to be a good reliever if he can figure out how to manage the control.

        • If Holloway becomes a quality reliever for us then either the FO are geniuses or I'm just a dumb dumb, because I never saw it happening. His control was just so bad the improvement would have to be monumental in my mind, maybe he's done it.

What's the plan in your mind for CF?

completely agree but they had to have seen something as they were steadfast in support for the guy when he just cant throw strikes.

Id try to sign Marte to a 1-2 year extension but if not, since he will get absolutely paid this offseason, i'd sign a cheap stop gap guy this offseason and then hope misner, burdick, monte, Connor scott improves and takes over the position long term. On his last legs but if we don't pay Starling i wouldn't mind a decent 1 year deal for Mccutchen just to bide some time on the ML roster until those guys are ready. I think he has another year left of production and he is a great club house guy.

Honestly, one time I talked to Gary Dembo at the ballpark (in 2019) and the only name he mentioned was Halloway. He said it took a long time to get the "fell back". Lets see if he can hold up.

Anything less then 2 years/$15 million per, I think you gotta bring Marte back. One of Misner, Scott or Harrison has to have a breakout year before I start slotting them in as future CF of any year.

I think marte will get more than that but if those are the terms I agree. He is the perfect #2 hitter for the next few years until hopefully Jazz and Bleday are ready to hold down the middle of the order.

                      • love the lineup tonight with the guys we have out. On a side note I think we will see Isan take devers spot shortly. Read mish's article today and the reason it was devers and not isan was because of the timing of the injury and who was on the taxi squad for that particular trip. It would have been isan otherwise.

This graph is unreal. look at the elite company jazz is in regarding speed and power combo. elite already. on pace for 30 2b, 30 hr's, and 30 SB

                          • great fucking start. Jazz is a great leadoff guy and while marte is the ideal 2 man in the lineup, rojas is pretty damn great in that respect as well. Great contact skills and patience.
