I don't know if they have agreed on the NL DH for next year, but I can't imagine them going back at this point. Seems like something both the owners and players can agree on.

From what i read i think they are going back to no DH for next year with 2022 being open to negotiations again. God i hope they do keep it though, I hate watching the pitcher hit. They say it adds to strategy but it isnt positive strategy in my opinion. I want to see starters going deeper into games and not being forced to do something they suck at. it's much better for the game with universal DH

One other thing to think about is that because of the pandemic, a lot of teams will be looking to cut payroll. With the Marlins having next to no money committed next year beyond Marte and Dickerson, they could be opportunistic with trades or free agents. There will likely be more players available than usual on short term deals. Should be interesting.

Absolutely. They need to be scouring the market for this years Ozuna/Donaldson. Couple guys that I would like seeing and that I think make sense:

Justin Turner- played for mattingly in LA, older so he wont get a long term deal, and has been super consistent the last few years. A one year deal for him and i'd be all over it. Especially if there is a DH but even if there isnt, I think it might make sense to sign him for 3b, move anderson to 1b for a year, and then move Cooper's bat to the OF either in RF or LF.

Nelson cruz- only if there is a DH obviously, but his bat goes without saying would be possibly the best bat we could add that is at all realistic.

Ozuna- gotta figure he will get some sort of 4 or 5 year deal somewhere, but if he stays at 2 years ideally and max 3 years, depending on the AAV you gotta think about it.

George Springer- I could 100% see him being this years Ozuna guy who gets a 1 year prove it deal. If so he would also be a great impact bat.

A lot of this stuff will play itself out in spring but i dont entirely disagree. To me id like to have 2 solidified OF spots heading into spring whether thats Marte and a FA/trade addition or Marte and Cooper. Then given the amount of options we have i let the rest of the guys like Monte, Brinson, Sierra, maybe Jesus Sanchez play it out in Spring and see who has improved. That way you still have a spot open for Bleday once he is ready a few months into next year.

Agreed. It would take a huge spring training to earn a starting job. For me, I'm penciling in Dickerson/Marte in at LF and CF and letting Sanchez/Bleday/Harrison etc. battle it out for the RF job. I'm also penciling in Jazz at 2nd.

I think we will see some of the OF prospects moved in the offseason either for an upgrade at C or an impact bat.

I think DH next year was included in one of the proposals before the year started but never agreed to officially. But given that they were making up rules for the year like 10 minutes before opening night maybe that can still change

Why not just keep it at this point? What's the point of having it, then not having it for a year, then having it again in '22? Pointless. NL teams have already adjusted, just keep it.

I did scroll back a little and appreciate the random thoughts of where the fuck did that guy go? Long story short, I lived in NYC in March, and it has been a hell of a ride as I am sure you all have experienced in your own manners, moving rapidly out of the city/state with an infant while you and your wife are working full time. Our industrious have not slowed down at all, and if anything have gotten busier. Not much family support with keeping distance as I'm sure you all experience. These are first-world problems so this is couched in we are very happy we are healthy, safe, and employed, but I've had extremely little downtime for months. I've barely watched any baseball this entire year, which is ironic since it's the first time they've been "good" in forever. I was going to chime in earlier, but then they really made the playoffs and figured maybe posting would jinx them. But they lost, but seems like it was a fun season.

I'll probably pop back in spring training chilled out from this stress, but I've just been 2020'd. Hope everyone is doing well, staying sane and safe, and Didi Gregorius does not suck.

Welp, despite the Marlins losing a postseason series for the 1st time ever this was a good day in Marlins history because lou is ok. As you can see your presence was missed.

I can sympathize with having a baby during Covid, its stressful man. My son was born in July our 1st. I dont really sleep much any more. (Unlike lou though I think that's increased my posting) Having to tell close family members they cant see him, because they aren't being safe. Having them mad at you and trying to learn this parenting thing without much help is tough.

I think that is what they will end up doing. I believe the reason for the lack of clarity right now is because when it was enacted for this year it was specifically for this year only and then the CBA is up after next year. Not necessarily that they were for sure deciding on bringing it back for one season but just a gap in the time that they havent gotten to decide on yet.

As I told my 2 young sons before the playoffs started, everything that happens moving forward is gravy because making the playoffs was highly unlikely for this rebuilding Marlins team. They accomplished the almost impossible.

I feel really bad for those of you navigating the current climate with newborns. I can’t relate but appreciate what a hardship that just be.

I’m as thrilled as the rest of you that lou is alive and well!

Ya players were offered the expanded playoffs and DH for 2 years but rejected it so they the right to sue. Owners kept the DH and then expanded them for this year
