I’d like to see Sixto’s K/9 jump up to 10 from where it is (8.16)

8.2 K/9 is his career minor league number. He has never averaged a strikeout per inning for a season. Cabrera is the strikeout king ... whenever he arrives.

Well this is a real kick in the teeth. Don't worry though, Castano is pitching the 2nd game.

Is that tube sock Joe West is wearing over his face covering his eyes?

In virtually a must win game, our plan B if Castano doesn’t perform well is Robert Duggar

What happened to Braxton Garrett? Kid did well last Sunday, this was his normal rest day as it was for Sixto.

They would rather have a Castano pitch a DH. They like him as a 3/4 inning option

We traded DSL SS Issac De Leon to Baltimore as the PTBNL to Baltimore

No real loss since tons of MIF depth but kid has talent and can stick at SS. I would make this trade 100 out of 100 tho as Bleier is good and De Leon is like the #15 SS in system

That makes no sense. Garrett went 5 in his first career start. In a doubleheader.

Exactly he can go longer. Castano is going 3 or 4 innings which is fine for 7 inning games while for a 9 inning game not much. It also gives them options for Sunday and Monday. They can have Garrett or Rogers for Game 2 and other 1 goes on Monday. For all the Castano crying he hasnt been that bad this year

I'm looking at the box score from the Marlins win over the Red Sox the other day...does someone have an explanation for how Yimi Garcia, who pitched the 8th inning, got the win? The Marlins led the entire game and I understand Trevor Rogers only went three innings so he wasn't eligible. From what I understand, the scorer has some discretion as to who gets awarded the win after that, but usually it goes to the next guy who comes in the game. The fact that Garcia, pitching the 8th inning, got the win...I can't figure that one out.

Official scorer can pick the winner in such a case ... based on who was most effective.

Total coin flip tonight. Corbin and Lopez are pretty identical stat wise. I guess slight edge to the lefty because the Marlins have struggled against southpaws.

Lewis Brinson has a .776 OPS. Very encouraging.
