My point is that everyone keeps talking about how we need pitching, pitching, pitching, pitching and more pitching when the facts are that this is the single worst offensive team in franchise history and has as much to do, if not more, with the reason we are going to finish last in the division. Yes, it's true that the Phillies have a great rotation but that's not the only reason they have the best record in baseball. They also can hit. I would prefer to see us go more after bats than arms this year. Yes, we need another starter since Javy appears to be retiring but getting an actual third baseman and a real centerfielder should be a higher priority than anything else.

The odds of Hanley improving + the young hitters reaching their upside (guys like Morrison) are far greater than a guy like Volstad becoming a good option.

It's like you want us to ignore the fact that Anibal Sanchez has been the only good starter this year not named Javy Vazquez, who's likely to retire.
