Well, ignoring the financial benefits of Jupiter - Jacksonville, and what it means in terms of not paying rehabbing players a per diem since we designate Jupiter our "home area" it's dumb because we can't cultivate South Florida and the Tri-County area (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach) as a strong home sector so we're instead going to go across the state to an area that is basically Rays territory, not so much because of the proximity to Tampa, but because it's so hard to get to Miami from Ft. Myers.

The only good reason to relocate the ST home is if it sells more regular season tickets. It's why we moved to Jupiter in the first place (that and Loria had, I believe, some part of paying for construction of Roger Dean), it's why the Dodgers moved West and why the Red Sox don't care so long as it's new.

Sharing a facility is a benefit, not a detriment.

It guarantees you have another team looking to get minor league players AB's or innings too, so there's always something going on on a backfield.

You don't have to get on a plane for any of our affiliates, AAA excluded, it's a straight shot up I-95, so rehab is easy.
