Not sure why it’s Castano over Mejia. Is this like a bullpen game?

My guess is the goal is for Castano to give them 5 innings. Doubtful that happens. I wish someone would grill Jeter, Hill & company why top prospect Sixto Sanchez isn't being utilized, when he's got more success and minor league experience than both Mejia and Castano. We know the answer, but make them answer the question, because they won't give the real answer.

        • On the one hand, Mattingly says they are playing to win. On the other, the team choses to start Castano over Mejia. We saw both vs Mets.

The word on Sixto is that they were trying to "build up his innings" beyond three, which is where he is at now. I don't recall ever witnessing a situation like his before. He had a solid AA season, was viewed by most pundits as one of the very best young prospects, and figured to arrive at spring training in prime shape to begin his major league career. Instead, he larded up so severely over the winter that he was in no condition to play at all ...

Cabrera was on the shelf with an arm problem several weeks ago, but has reportedly resumed throwing. We hear nothing about what's up with the players in Jupiter because nobody covers it.

It's been reported that he lost all that weight and was in great condition in July. Your boy Mejia didn't make it 3, so what are we talking about here?

Proud to say that I have adopted Humberto as my boy. Was looking for changeup more in his first start (because I read that he was developing a good one) but he only threw four out of his 66 pitches. I think he will be great and hope that he winds up as a starter. My money is on both him and Vesia. I'm sure you saw Mejia vs the Mets. The quality of his stuff was pretty clear.

Again, on Sixto, three inning capacity (in the words of Mattingly) is not great shape.

                I meant, weight-wise shape.

As a Marlins fan it's in my DNA to distrust our FO, but I still say they're playing games with service time more than any concern for his healrth.

I like Mejia a lot as well, if he can stay healthy. I don't think he's a long term solution for this particular season just due to lack of experience anywhere near this level, but overall I think his future is bright if he can ever stay healthy.

I don't think service time would matter for Sixto at this point. The fact that the organization doesn't even talk about him speaks volumes in my opinion. I think the failure to take pride in conditioning/preparedness is a major no-no in professional circles, as it should be. The Marlins have a need for at least one solid starter to replace Caleb Smith. As you will see, he's done.

Just like Aguilar's weight was an embarassment and you didnt understand why we brought him in. I also like that your previous post mentions Mattingly talking about Sixto recently, but no one talks about him. What the hell are you talking about dude? Jose Fernandez had almost identical questions about his weight before he was called up.

Miggy and Sandy on the verge of heading to Jupiter. Possibly more joining them.

                      • Corey Dickerson placed on Bereavement list. Lewin Diaz called up.

Surprised it's Lewin and not Jesus Sanchez, especially considering we're replacing an OF.

No but we got/had like 10 spots open so probably just added him and traded him. U can add anyone at anytime-if u take them off they cant come back

Lewin has gotten some RF work but he will be at 1B/DH mostly

                          Harold should be back soon

Ya there are like 10-12 guys who passed tests and most of others are close to. Just getting back in shape now. Like mentioned Marlins arent rushing guys they want them back in time for the Road Trip which I think is the 21st
