  • I'm predicting a Mattingly meltdown on these umps in Miami if this continues.

    • Anderson hitting 5th again today. Mattingly sucks. I don’t get why he’s still here.

he really is an awful manager. might be a good bench coach but its been awful for years now. lineup construction is straight out of the 80s and 90s and the bullpen decisions are consistently awful. I have 0 idea what he's been doing with the pen since the start of the year.

How about Matt Joyce hitting cleanup? That has to be a career first. I don't mind who's playing, but what would your batting order look like? I'd be Berti, Alvarez, Anderson, Aguilar, Dickerson, Cervelli, Joyce, Villar and Sierra.

Curious, why the downgrade of Villar but Berti and Alvarez atop the lineup? I think our best 9 at the moment would be:

            1. Villar (2b)
            2. Anderson (3b)
            3. Aguilar (1b)
            4. Dickerson (lf)
            5. Cervelli (c)
            6. Joyce (dh)
            7. berti (ss)
            8. brinson (rf) *ducks*
            9. sierra (cf)

And then ideally, assuming we don't bring up any more of the prized prospects:

            1. Villar (2b)
            2. rojas (ss)
            3. Anderson (3b)
            4. Aguilar (1b)
            5. Dickerson (lf)
            6. Cooper (dh)
            7. ramirez (rf)
            8. alfaro/cervelli (c)
            9. sierra/berti (cf)

The team plays hard. It’s though to say whether he gets credit for that, or not, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But his game management is atrocious. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to any of it.

It's sheer stupidity. And while I'm happy they're putting a good hitter in the 2 hole, it's your best power bat, and probably slowest player. The only reasoning for batting Andy 5th is so that you have guys on base when he's up, but then you take Aguilar and put him 2nd? None of it makes sense.

              I'd probably go:

              1. Villar
              2. Dickerson
              3. Anderson
              4. Aguilar
              5. Berti
              6. Alvarez
              7. Cervelli
              8. Joyce
              9. Sierra

I'm still willing to give Villar a chance at the top of the lineup because I think he has the talent to be a solid leadoff hitter. My patience is running thin, though. I'd see how the next few games go to play with 5-8. I'd also be fine with swapping Dickerson and Anderson.

                • gonna need lots and lots of runs tonight ... Yams will be mashed. Didn't much care for the uncontested stolen base by Bichette either.

                        • Eight runs isn't enough for Yamamoto. He's got nothin'. Why are they leaving him out there?
