well jordan holloway was also a disaster so probably not someone we want to compare him to.

On a side note, I like to do this exercise where i try to draft out the marlins lineup for opening day next year as well as where the prospects who dont make the major league roster might start in the minors for Jupiter and up. It's really coming to fruition next year for both hitters and pitchers so they are going to have to retool the farm system come 2022. long ways away but just saying. You got both the hitters and the pitchers in the majors/upper minors.

They are going to need to address hitting prospects next draft because after this wave of current guys in the upper minors its pretty barren aside from the few IFA SS's we've gotten.

What can be lost by throwing Mejia? I see no downside whatever. At the levels he has pitched, he's been better than anyone in the organization. Yes, of course he is on social security (age 23) but had injury problems that stole a couple years. He threw a mere inning last March, but looked great doing it. I think he was around 94 velocity wise, and had lots of movement. Sure, Castano is an option (and a lefty to boot), but I think Mejia will be better.

Naturally, my sentiment is shallow because I know nothing about how he progressed in scrimmages at 2.0 or Jupiter training. Incredibly, we get virtually no news coverage of such things. Why are there no blogs on all the developmental news? Why has there been next to no coverage of our top prospect completely bagging a training and conditioning schedule in the off season? Why nothing about how Bleday and Scott, top picks, are looking? We hear nada.

On another note, why do I get the feeling that the player to be named later in the Baltimore trade (for the lefty reliever) will wind up being Mejia or Burdick or Devers? I'm going to remain nervous about that.

NOT OD but should be by July 2021(ALL are on 40 man)

        C-Alfaro
        1B-Aguilar/Lewin
        2B-Isan/Devers/Berti
        SS-Jazz/Rojas
        3B-BA
        LF-Dickerson
        CF-Monte/Sierra OR Brinson
        RF-Jesus/Jerar

        SP-Sandy/Sixto/Cabrera/Pablo/Garrett

Again ALL of these guys are ON the 40 man roster. NO Villar/Caleb/Urena/other RP

Not really OF-JJ,Burdick,Misner,Mesa JR,VV,Burgos,Scott and the SS all should be at other positions except Nunez. They are ALL in Low A and lower

They could use a C and power but every other spot is flush with talent(All are listed as SS but will be moved to 2B/3B/OF) they are OK. Dont forget guys who normally would be in Low A are likely either going to Jupiter or SS in June so few guys like Salas/Cappe will get a push up

Doubtful its Mejia or Devers as both are on 60 man pool and CAN be traded. Heard its a P but could see us trading a OF like Thomas Jones/Burdick/Dalvy especially since NO space for OF in MLB anytime soon. Baltimore likes toolsy guys

Way to look at it is this
        Miami-Villar and Bleier
Balt-Easton Lucas(Was probably 4th best LHP in Batavia) and ?

Also lots of guys are Rule 5 next year so I dont mind trading 1 of them for a guy like Bleier and arms are already 23-25

          • Something people dont realize is everyone of these guys are on the 40 man roster which means they probably will be getting ML callups. Are they all ready? No but they arent gonna sign a Josh Harrison to be UT and DFA a Devers or Jerar

            C-Alfaro
            1B-Aguilar/Lewin
            2B-Isan/Devers/Berti
            SS-Jazz/Rojas
            3B-BA
            LF-Dickerson
            CF-Monte/Sierra OR Brinson
            RF-Jesus/Jerar

This is also the case for arms.

            40 man for 2021
            Alfaro
            Wallach
            Aguilar
            Lewin
            Isan
            Berti
            Devers
            Jazz
            Rojas
            BA
            Dickerson
            Monte
            Sierra
            Brinson
            Jerar
            Jesus
            Cooper
            Harold
            Sandy
            Caleb
            Urena
            Pablo
            Elieser
            Sharp
            Yamamoto
            Sixto
            Cabrera
            Garrett
            Rogers
            Dugger
            Neidert
            Bleier
            Tarpley
            Vesia
            Stanek
            Steck
            Brigham
            Holloway
            Guzman
            Mejia

O and they have atleast 40 million to spend(if they want). Prolly less now with less revenue but still cash to burn

40 guys already without any FA signed, vets resigned or others added to 40 man. If they want to add anything they have to DFA someone-this is why u see them "trying guys out" now

            • Their biggest organizational needs in terms of depth and/or impact players are at c, 3b, and 1b other than Lewin but you can move guys to first

Not sure about 3B in year or 2 u could have some impact. Nic Ready,Cristhian Rodriguez,Cappe,Salas,Osiris all likely to be 3B. This is why u give BA a 5 year extension now

C and Power is needed tho. 2021 Draft has about 10 college C likely to go early as well. VERY strong. Far off but also signing a solid C prospect in IFA

Lewin has been getting work in RF and Jerar has gotten some work at 1B in Jupiter fwiw

Jerar at 1b makes sense given the OF surplus but lewin getting RF work doesnt realyl unless they just want to increase potential versatility.

I wish they would make an offer to JT this offseason as the guy they spend money on but they wont. that is a piece that could legitimately put us over the top surrounded by the cost controlled young core.

My first reaction would be, why would he come back? But say we make the expanded playoffs and Philly doesn't. May be another reason to really go for it this year.

money. we have almost nothing in terms of long term money. Plus i think players can see this team is on the upswing. it wont happen, i was just saying id love him back he's so fucking good.

Realmuto didn't leave because we couldn't pay him, he left because he didn't want to be part of the rebuild. You make the playoffs this year, and selling Free Agents on the re-build being over becomes very easy.

                          And technically 2.7 games.

                          • We’re not that bad at C. Obviously we could do better, but it could also be a lot worse than Jorge Alfaro.

we low balled him. he might not have wanted to be part of the rebuild, sure, but if we offered the right amount of money he would have stayed. we were offering from what I remember something like 5 years around 80 million and the guy is about to get 200+ million this offseason

I'm not sure about that. From all reports him and his agent wouldn't even talk to our FO during his entire final year with us.
