this also pretty much should guarantee no shot of nfl or ncaa football games until this shit is under control. it is another inexcusable lack of leadership for nfl players to be starting training camp this week. out of all sports that's just about the dumbest fucking thing imaginable. basketball should be fine in the bubble.

ya the plan sucked and the players clearly werent following it. if you looked at the dugout the guys were all right next to each other and they were high fiving each other and shit likely out of habit but still. the rules werent enuogh in the slightest, the testing protocols were wholly inadequate, and the players werent following them enough. a recipe for disaster. do i get credit for being right now namaste?

This stems from a lack of political will & leadership from the very top (Washington), from the beginning. If we had done like other countries, we'd be in a position to play sports now like other countries are starting to do. But because we culturally force libertarianism on society people don't & won't follow simple rules that could & will get us out of this crisis & will continue to prolong it. This will have REAL political & economic reprecussions on our country for a very long time, including sports. Will the NFL or NBA or MLB be welcomed back to other countries in the near future ? Lack of visibility & in person presence will cloud the economic viability of expanding the international scope & $$$ viability of the sports. That combined with the economic uncertainty in the US in the future the next 4 or 5 years in sports could be very grim.

These guys are not prepared for a season. This is exactly why we have a 60 player poool. No way Hanley, Chen or Handerson plays with the Marlins this week.

And I doubt it they will paid Puig $$$ for a player that didn't have any ABs in the last 5 months or that they will trade for players. Even if you add "quality" players don't they have to be added to the 40 man roster like you said? and once players return they need to go tru waivers?

They are calling Hanley/Chen/Henderson/Venditte/agents for guys on other teams who didnt make the 60 man pool.

Technically, don’t the Phillies have to quarantine now too? They were just exposed all weekend to a team that has 14 (and counting) that have tested positive.

Option MLB/Marlins are talking about is letting vets who didn't make teams 60 man pool sign with Marlins if other team is fine with it however can't trade or do anything else when we DFA them

Also there are 10-15 guys in DFA limbo which Miami is looking at.

They can field a team

15 ML guys
5-10 from minors(Monte/Alvarez/Lavarnway/Vincent/Snider/Smith) Issue is what happens when on 40 man and other guys are healthy
5-10 from DFA guys/vets not on 60 man pool/FA

One of the many Marlins' discussions is having the non-positive players take a bus to Baltimore and playing all 4 games vs. Orioles there, I'm told.

Team is currently in Philadelphia waiting for new round of test results.

Their way of showing that should have been to wear their damn masks. I recall Corey Dickerson taking a whole round of congratulations after his homer ... without a mask. How hard would it have been to demand that players put on their mask before entering the dugout?

There was a whole lot of dugout issues in every game I watched. Perhaps the Marlins situation will lead to teams actually distancing and wearing masks in the dugouts. There is no reason players and coaches should be in the dugout without a mask on...and there is no reason that they should ever be sitting closer than 6 feet apart.

i was watching the end of the padres dbacks game yesterday because i had a wager on the dbacks and in the bottom of the 9th inning every padre was on the top step all right next to each other. no one was following any of these rules.

The bigger issue in all of this is the testing though. no amount of rule following is going to work if there is no bubble, no daily testing, and when they do test the tests taking a day or 2 to come back. that will never work.
