Agreed. He had several outings last year where he looked this good. Just need to see these outings on a more consistent basis.

Well you gotta wonder if Villar should be out in CF after that effort.

You gotta be kidding me, Villar.

If Isan Diaz doesn’t start hitting the ball, Villar needs to move over to 2B and get a real CF’er out there.

Yimi is supposed to be a strike thrower, but he can't find the strike zone all of the sudden.

So is Chad Wallach available? What if Cervelli and his serious injury issues goes down? What would we do?

Chad Wallach is the backup and Sean Rodriguez is the 3rd catcher apparently.

            Bad start for Kintzler.

Ok for some reason I was thinking Wallach was on the taxi squad like Rodriguez was so was confused by Rodriguez getting picked.

When is the last time we were at .500, let alone 1.000? haha

We're a playoff team with 59 games left.

This is the first time the Marins have been above .500 since August 2017

Not sure if this should count, but this is now the latest time in a calendar year that Marlins have at least had a tie for first place.

                      Previous latest point: June 5th
Latest point with sole possession was May 28th.

The "taxi" squad has to be 1 C and 2 others BUT still have to be on the 40 man to be added to main roster. Northcraft is on it still and up in Philly with Miami but NOT on the 40 man which means someone has to get 45 Day DL/DFA or 10 IL with Rona if he is to appear

In other words Miami can now add another C(Lavarnway) and another player to the taxi squad and call them up to Philly but they can NOT play unless added to 40 man if not on it yet

                        Big CLUSTER F

Also this is why Lewis Brinson isn't being pushed back to return yet. Joyce was put on 45 Day DL on 7/15 which means he can come back on 8/29(2 days BEFORE trade deadline). I am starting to think Joyce might have opted out of season or is waiting to see how stuff plays out before he comes back because havent heard anything about injury and u can leave him on 10 Day Rona List. What I mean is wait till Aug 29 see what ML teams are good/how Rona plays out and decides what he wants to do?

Michael Hill interview made me wonder about what's going on with Sixto Sanchez. Hill is a cheerleader first and foremost, and normally gushes about all Marlin players/prospects. Not last night, at least when asked about the team's highest rated pitching prospect. He was very subdued in his commentary, making me wonder how much damage Sixto has done to his status by failing to condition (or even maintain) himself in the off season.

Marlin pitching dominated the opening night. Heaney for LA. Eovaldi for Boston. Paddock for SD. Alcantara. Ordinarily, Luis Castillo would have been out there too.

Did Fish16 say he saw Aguilars tenure being like Mike Morse and then after the home run say he’s always been a big fan of Aguilar? Or am I confusing posters?

Nevermind, I see the sarcasm now.

Aaron Nola was never a hard thrower, but he was at 90-92 last night, a couple ticks below his earlier days. Given that he's still an effective pitcher, I'm hopeful for Nick Neidert. I see some similarities between the two.

What are you saying here? Sandy will never put up the numbers that Luke Weaver did last season ... a 2.94 ERA that was about ninth among all MLB starters. A 1.07 WHIP. Exactly how were you wrong about Flaherty OR Weaver?

In the "That's Unusual" category, there were two games last night in which individual players had three hits ... that were the only hits for their respective teams. David Dahl for CO at Texas and Orlando Arcia for MILW at Cubs.
