  • Why Did the Marlins Have to Play So Many Games Vs Teams with Over .500 Records ?

According to MLB.com the Marlins played 116 games and went 36-80 vs teams with a .500 or better record so far and is the most by far in all MLB. Can someone explain this disparity ?

I get we have several good teams in our division, but even in our own division we've played a seemingly much tougher schedule.....Atlanta is 52-40 (92 games), Washington 43-48 (91 games), NY Mets 44-55 (99 games), and Philadelphia 48-50 (98 games).

Pittsburgh (104) and Cincinnati (100) are the only other teams to play 100 games or more (there are none in the AL) so far vs teams with over a .500 record besides the Marlins.

I get it we are pretty bad but this seems to be a bit unfair.....

Pretty simple. The 4 other teams in the division are over .500 and we're not. We play each division opponent what 19 times? Subtract 19 from The Marlins' number and you're right in line with the rest of the division.

Simple math...bad teams play more games against teams over .500 because those teams got over .500 partially based on beating up on said bad team.

Yep, you're right. If Philly loses a couple more games (they are 79-79 right now) it'll make it look a bit better
