    1 Trade Deadline!! July 31

    2020

The standard roster size will expand from 25 to 26 (with a 13-pitcher maximum). September rosters, meanwhile, will shrink from 40 to 28 (with a 14-pitcher maximum).

These changes make a lot of sense. Not sure what the 3 batters per pitcher does exactly. I get that they want to limit pitching changes, but it seems kind of silly to just pick an arbitrary number that they have to face. What if a guy comes in and just can't throw strikes? You have to leave him out there to take a beating?

I wonder if the 1 trade deadline will create a buyout market like the NBA.

So if u wanna sit Chen,Prado and 5 other players for a series u make them inactive and call up 7 guys on the 40 Man. NOT DFA guys since they are still on 40 Man but just making them "inactive"

Agree on Deadline however. No more playoff teams waiting-if they want a vet they gotta get him on 7/31
Yeah I would've liked to have seen the 1 deadline moved to like August 15th.

Me too. I also would like them to allow trading draft picks as well. Oh well, maybe in the next CBA.

It gets younger players MLB experience and into the MLB payscale in the union. Gets them an opportunity.

Ok, so the players union was fighting this change and this was the compromise. I guess I get it from that standpoint.

              • As is cooper. I was high on him coming into last year but he was hurt from the second game on. If he turns into a piece then the front office deserves credit for a great deal getting him and smith for Michael king

Don't feel like listening, is there a long story medium? Any details?

                  • Kind of just a lot of the same things we’ve heard but just further evidence of how much loria took control of baseball operations. Every single one of those guys knew how important a farm system was to building a sustainable contender and loria just didn’t give a shit because loria is a moron

Which is good news, because he is giving them an out from not starting the kids. Let'em rip.

Chen is probably going to turn into a solid reliever with maxing effort now. Frankly, he could be an asset as a 100 inning reliever to bridge the gap from the 4th to 6th as we know a bunch of the kids will be pulled early and often for performance and innings reasons.

Lopez so far in relief of chen with 2 IP and just 11 pitches. Faced Duvall, Albies, Donaldson, Freeman, struck out Acuna on 4 pitches, then got Markakis. 12 pitches, 12 strikes so far.

                              • I just want to point out, the Miami Dolphins just sent $5 million to the Titans to net a better draft pick.

Mike Hill - you have one job July 31st.
