Well we're getting a dose of Minervini already. But Severino also has been less than Walz.....called the Marlins the Yankees the other night towards the end of the game. Also one time said "here in New York", but corrected himself almost immediately

I really liked Minervini! he had some emotion and didn't talk as much as Severino. Being able to tell who is who is also a plus

        What are “Marlins diversions”?

More than halfway through the season... Waltz out is a plus. Severino isn't particularly good, but he's an upgrade at play by play. Hollandsworth is somewhere between terrible and just plain bad. Stop with the "to my point" already. Just make your point, WE GET IT. And for a former player, his insights and breakdowns of the game are bland, at best. Blaylock is something like the car wreck you can't look away from. Every time she speaks, I involuntarily lean closer to the TV to hear how awkward her voice inflections are going to be. Has she never heard herself speak? Is it possible no one has ever mentioned to her how off key, or just... off her inflections are?

            Hollandsworth is trash.

I was never a big fan of Waltz but at least he:

            A) doesn’t sound EXACTLY like Hollandsworth and

            B) had a pulse above 60 BPM

Severino sounds like he's checking his phone to make sure another team/network didn't leave him a voicemail between innings. He sounds like a disinterested third party. There has to be some homerism in the hometown announcing crew.

In fairness to him, there hasn't been a whole lot to get excited about.

what he sounds like to me is someone who is broadcasting an MLB network game. The best thing Rich did was make it feel like a marlins game with various inside jokes and gimmicks and overall tone but Severino just sounds like someone who works for a national network

That's only going to come with time though. Waltz was around here for a while, so he had the knowledge of the Marlins franchise for that long to play off of. To expect Severino, in his first year, to make some of the historical references and to give the Marlins a home "feel" is, to me, expecting a bit much. And I'm not even a big Severino guy.

It took me probably 8-9 years to come around on Waltz, lol. Then they fire him. In the early years I thought Waltz was too goofy, I felt he toned it down over the years, Severino has the opposite problem, right now he's kinda bland, but maybe like Waltz he'll get more comfortable and find a more charismatic voice.

Prado left the game early - maybe that means Dean tomorrow with an Anderson reshuffle.

Fuck hopefully that means Dean at 7:35pm. Get him on a plane.

I've disliked Jessica Blaylock since she first arrived.

I get that the sideline reports aren't always the most interesting, but some of the "reports" she delivers are just like - do we really need to hear you talk about that?

she is terrible. been saying it for years. it is a hard job, but she is god awful and her reports add absolutely nothing to the broadcast.

Craig M and Jeff Nelson get my vote for broadcasting the games. Craig has the enthusiasm and Jeff the insightful commentary.
