More than they could have got last month. But ya pretty bad return, least Jeff is happy he is saving cash. On brightside at least they are getting something for guys who won't be around next year. I would rather have them take this guy let him pitch in the AFL and see then just non tendering Cishek

He hasn't given up a homerun since 2012.

Traded him because Cardinals would take on rest of the contract. Cishek has been really good since his demotion from closer. But the Marlins didn't want to pay that money to a non closer.

I'm sure lou and them will come on here and discuss how freeing this money will help us pay for a good starting #2 or #3 this free agency, but I've watched long enough to know that simply isn't what is likely to happen. Great move by the Cardinals. They don't care about the salary and gave up literally nothing for a guy who can step in at any point and be a really good closer again for them. I'm sure St. Louis feels like they got a freaking steal.

Well for the record, I am under no delusion they will do something smart, but if rather take the optimistic viewpoint that they could field a team projected to win 90 games with a bottom 5 payroll.

Also, prado, Koehler, and probably Ramos need to be moved to go all out for Greinke or Cueto.

Trading Cishek was definitely the right move. Only way it's horrible is if you're in the "why we didn't we trade him in the offseason?" camp. However, that's in the past and he definitely had to be traded before the deadline. No reason to keep his salary on the team now.

Totally understand that it makes sense to trade him, and I'm certainly all for it. Get him the fuck outta here.

But there's still a week before the trade deadline and they shipped him and his salary off for a 25-year old who just got to fucking AA.

If multiple teams were courting him like it was reported, that's really the best return they would be offered?

Hearing that they like the guy they got. Dodgers and Pittsburgh also had offers in on Cishek and seems they chose this one. Don't forget they share a complex with the Cards so they have seen him alot. Maybe they watch him and see something in the mechanics/delivery?

He is 25 in AA but only been in the system 3 years which means he doesn't have to be on the 40 man yet and actually has decent numbers. Control is shaky.

Cause they were hoping his value would be great or they would be in the race still. If Cishek doesnt suck and is still the closer, they would have got a ton more for him. Instead they lost the game they were playing and were lucky to get anything for him really

They have been telling teams no thanks on Prado and Koehler,so far. Some people are saying they are bluffing to try to get more for them while others say they might just keep them since both are under control for next year. Alot of interest in both of them tho.

Bryan Morris is getting alot of attention. Houston,Cubs,Dodgers have asked on him. Pittsburgh has asked on Mike Dunn. They are also telling teams who ask on Latos and Haren that they will NOT include cash in the offer. Morse they will however

Sketchy return, but it's for a guy the team made no secret was going to be DFA'd anyway.

Latos is the guy you look at as being the measuring stick for competence because he's pitching well lately.

Crappy return, but Marlins negotiated themselves out of any meaningful return anyway.

                            walk rate is hilarious

he's 12th on the team now in bWAR. In 18 innings. YOUR 2015 MIAMI MARLINS!

                            Cishek 16ip 11ha 3er 7bb 10k

results are better, but man that K rate just keeps falling off the table (9.9/9 career, 11.6/9 in 2014, 7.9/9 with us this year, 5.6/9 for STL)
