The excitement for Realmuto for me isn't that he can out-produce Salty offensively. It's that he shouldn't be be a disaster offensively and can provide way better defense behind the plate. Has Salty even thrown out a baserunner this year?

They like Realmuto more than Salty. If they could have traded Salty in the offseason Realmuto would have been the starter. The reason he was sent to AAA was to get AB's and no reason to have 3 catchers on the roster so they sent him down to play but with only 2 catchers now he can play everyday in the majors

As for Kelly, the reason he made the team is #1 he can play anywhere #2 Left Handed Bat and #3 is a veteran. Perfect 25th man on any roster. Dietrich isn't getting a call from us anytime soon-if he blows up in AAA it just gives him some trade value when we deal him to a AL team

Still havent heard which IF they are calling up BUT some talk is that the reason why Brignac opted back in when we sent him down is because we told him he would be the first one back up if he stayed in the system.

Can we just start the season over?

        One time?

Problem is, Solano should be the 25th man and we should be getting calling up a bat with some power.

If they really liked Realmuto more, he would be getting, minimum, 80 starts in a straight platoon with Salty. That would get to be over 350+ PA with random DH starts, in game changes, etc., which is plenty for him. Likewise, Salty would get over 100 starts with some 1B time. I can't imagine them keeping Mathis if they really thought Realmuto was ready for a significant amount of PA.

There is also certainly room for 3 catchers if the third one didn't suck, because realistically, Salty can play 1B and in an absolute pinch, Realmuto probably can play 2B/3B/LF/RF. Ichiro, Solano, and Baker can literally cover everything else, and that's not including Prado who can play everywhere.

I'm not into this logic. If he is better than Salty, he starts half the games here on out. Don fucking Kelly or Reid Brignac isn't the reason not to do this.
