Wouldn't Ichiro just sign with a Japanese team before he'd take a role where he's clearly getting minimal at bats barring injury?

They'd probably pay him more too.

He wants 3000 so he won't go to Japan. But yea definitely would want abs. And he sucks.

        2,844 hits

He will easily get 75-100 hits in a 300-350 AB situation and will surely get there in 2016 with some team looking to capitalize on it.

I think it's a big deal to him versus having a retirement tour through Japan.

And the Marlins are dare I say, a contender?

Would like Delmon Young as the 4th, think he will probably find a starting gig back in Baltimore though.

One of my biggest complains with trading Barnes was his versatility, he was essentially a 2 for 1 utility guy who could be a decent backstop, and would have given the Marlins either a deeper bench or a deeper bullpen.

Delmon Young playing the OF at Marlins Park would be all sorts of fun for the opposing team.

Updated for all the trades today.

Set up for over a 80m payroll in 2016 so far, but can easily drop that by 15m with moving Cishek, Crow, and Phelps.
                --------------------
Also, could still use a LH bat off the bench so Dietrich can play everyday in the minors, and a better bench OF than Wates.

We could, hypothetically, have the same position regulars 2 years in a row for the first time in franchise history. All 8 are under contract/club control for 2016.

I'd bet it's way rarer than you think to have the same 8

It's just mind boggling how much has changed in three months. It went from:

                          Yelich
                          Solano/Dietrich
                          Stanton
                          McGehee
                          Jones
                          Ozuna
                          Salty
                          Hech

                          Alvarez
                          Eovaldi
                          Cosart
                          Koehler
                          Heaney

                          to

                          Gordon
                          Prado
                          Yelich
                          Stanton
                          Morse
                          Ozuna
                          Salty
                          Hech

                          Alvarez
                          Latos
                          Cosart

The 2000-01 Blue Jays are the only AL team to have the same starting regulars (either most started or opening day lineup (they had the same both)) in the timeframe the Marlins have been around.

Our team is nasty. If we somehow sign Shields it might be the best Marlins team ever and a team that could push for 95-100 wins if Jose comes back healthy and in his old form. Remember how few runs we scored for him? He could win 20 games in 2016 if he's healthy

I'll be ecstatic with clinching a wild card and advancing to NLDS.

Where is the NLDS pre-party being held?

                                Juanky's place?
