Marlins Trade Heaney, Hernandez, Barnes, Hatcher to Dodgers for Gordon, Haren, Rojas
You said he became expendable like 2B was his only position though. The Marlins had so many options, now we're gonna be stuck with McGehee and Jones next year
They got 2 things they really wanted-a SP who can eat innings and a 2B who can lead off for Heaney(FO soured on him-been talking all week),Hatcher(who before last year people hated)Kike(Our starting 2B who is not needed anymore) and Barnes(Nice player but catcher is set with Salty, Mathis, Realmuto, Solano in AAA and Wallach in AA and 2B with Gordon, Solano, Dietrich)
I don't mind the Dee Gordon part of the deal, but did we really have to give up four guys? All four of the guys we're giving up look like they have a future in the big leagues. Not good.
Only way is to LAA, you're right. But I've seen this organization be plenty stupid in the past. I mean, what would they even get? Mid-tier prospects would be my guess.

Also they cleared 2 more 40 man spots
A handful of starts (or whatever it was in the big leagues) does not make Heaney a bust, Hatcher improved, Kike does not become irrelevant just because you acquire Gordon (actually I hate losing Kike), and Barnes might actually be better long-term than all three of those catchers.
Dan Haren's value is close to nothing at this point in his career. There was no reason to pursue him, really. This is assuming he even pitches for us since he might retire, apparently.

Exactly.
The irony on this board - "we're so tired of being losers and being a team of prospects who may or may not pan out." (Make a trade of prospects for guys with proven experience and All-Star experience) "wow seriously? Those guys we traded might have been so good one day!!"
How about be happy we're making moves that improve the club now rather than hoping for improvement in years...
