  • Tension Brewing Between Hanley and Uggla?

The Marlins have closed the clubhouse for a team meeting after Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla engaged in a shouting match within the last 30 minutes.

About an hour earlier, Ramirez said his tight left hamstring is still sore but he wanted to play tonight because he doesn’t want to lose the respect of his teammates. He was scratched from the starting lineup a few minutes ago.

“I can’t explain myself now. I feel but I’ve got to be in there. I have to I feel like I’ve got to do it because it’s not the same, you don’t get the same respect from your teammates when you’re not playing. And I got people upset when I came out of the game last night but I try to do the best I can.”

After Ramirez made those remarks, he got in a shouting match with Uggla, who accused Ramirez of not caring because he’s already has a $70 million contract.

Ramirez is hitless in his last 14 at-bats and has stuggled recently with runners in scoring position, going 2 for his last 17.

Ramirez wouldn’t elaborate on exactly what teammates said to him. He said his left hamstring was about “10 percent” healthy but he still planned to play because the Marlins are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.

“You’ve got to do it,” he said. “So if it gets worse out for the season. If it’s not…

Here are excerpts of Hanley’s pre-game session with reporters today:

“It’s really tight and you need legs to compete every day. If you don’t have nothing and you know about it, you’re (expletive). We’ve got guys who can do I. I’m just going to give whatever I got.

“It’s really tight. That’s how I feel right now, tight tight tight. And my calf I have a little bit in the front too. It’s not only the hamstring. It’s the calf, too.”

Asked if he’d spoken to manager Fredi Gonzalez about his condition, Ramirez answered before the question was completed: “I don’t need to.”

(So you feel like you have to be out there every day in a pennant race?) “Every day. But what I saw…”

(You’re upset a little bit, huh?) “I’ve got to set my numbers for arbitration this year. You think? Do I need to?

“How many years am I gonna be in this game You don’t know and I don’t know. I know I’m a good hitter, a good player, a good teammate.

(Do you thnk reaction was unfair?) “Yeah but it’s OK. It hurt my feelings.’

“Im done That’s it. I’ll see you guys tonight after the game.”

Why? Why can't he actually be hurt. None of us know him, and none of us know how hurt he is.

Is Nick Johnson a fucking diva too?

              I'm confused.

Doesn't it say Hanley plans on playing on his hurt hamstring tonight?

And shut up fip, Uggla does not suck. You're fucking retarded.

He is 3rd on the team in on base percentage. 3rd in OPS. first in homers. He's really fucking good. God damnit.

Him being a diva is him not telling Fredi about his hamstring being "about 10%".

He was planning on playing but the lineup has been changed and Hanley is not in it. His shouting match partner is batting 3rd.

How is "manning up" and playing on a hurt hamstring make him a diva?

But "you're not playing because you make more money than me" isn't a dumb comment?

They're frustrated. Hanley's young and he is outspoken. At least he isn't calling his teammates out and being a prick.

Hanley getting seriously hurt would be so much better for the team!

Seriously, maybe his comments that he aint gotta tell Fredi shit are diva-ish, but the reasoning we were just given was superdumb

Hanley's had a nice career as a Marlin. I can't wait until we use this to run him out of town and then we feel really great because we all hate him for being a diva (like we hated Miggy for being really good and fat) and then we trade him for a really toolsy guy who sucks but can jump really high so we all love him, then we look around realize we got shit for him and feel really bad.

                              Yay.
