His trade value with Texas will never fall. They love him,the only way it would fall is if he torn up his knee or had back surgery. If we call them in the offseason they would offer Profar+ for him still

Loria called this one tho,one of the top reasons he didn't offer Stanton the big deal was because he wanted to see him get thru a whole season before he pays 100 milllion.(I know I know it's not like we would have kept him for 7 years anyway)

On the brightside tho now if Ozuna goes off we have our LF next year or our RF if Stanton does get dealt

The Alvarez/Eovaldi "injuries" are still weird and not only does our ML team look like a MASH squad our minors do to. We are missing 7 arms on our AA team,4 in GBoro and 5 others to discipline. Also on our big deal, who would have thought that John Buck would be having the best season out of all the names dealt!!!

Insider info right there. Alvarez and Eovaldi weren't really injured, just faking it.

Can you tweet that out and cite Ken Rosenthal as your source?

I am going to go out on a limb and say thats not the main reason Loria didnt offer Stanton a big deal. If there were 10 reasons, it would be right down there tied for 9th with "he said mean things on Twitter". Spots 1-8 would be occupied by "well, I could spend money on him or...I couldnt. Well thats not a tough decision at all!"

U might wanna move the Twitter stuff up to,Loria was pissed off when he heard it. As much as Loria likes to be in charge,he hates when he gets bad press. Take for example all the stories about the DH pitcher switch thing

As for the injury stuff,Alvarez was pitching in the WBC(which we told him NOT to,he did and we got pissed) he pitched 3/26 then put on DL 3/31 on 4/7 he resumed his throwing program. I understand it was prolly precaution tho

Eovaldi pitched 3/23 and 3/31 he was put on the DL because and I quote Beinfest "He didn’t have any pain, he just had trouble getting loose" Of course shoulder/elbow stuff u don't mess with but if Eovaldi is OK then Fernandez is probably still in Jax

Its the same with Silverio,he played in ST then was put on the 60 Day. The only difference is pretty much 95% of people know that the day he has to be activated to be off Rule 5 status he will be.(Pierre/Dobbs should be traded around the deadline and he will be on the team then)

BS WARNING They are shooting for 2014 and could care less about this year. Loria wants guys that they project to be on the 2014 roster to be 100% which is 1 reason they are being cautious this year,he would rather hae guys on the DL then play with pain and get hurt even more. The way it is seen is that they can suck draft #1(Rodon) and evaluate who will be around next year and who won't

They don't care about 2013 yet they're calling up all of their prospects super early for no reason.

Not saying you're wrong about what any of what your "sources" think...either way, Loria is an idiot.

Then again, he probably doesn't care because he might be selling before any of these guys become free agents, anyway.

Pierre won't be traded; he'll be DFA. He sucks.

There is the logic that I believe Ramp pointed out in the past couple days that these guys get experience in a no pressure situation. I think they're rushing players too much and it could potentially stunt development and it starts their clocks earlier which is a problem if Loria intends on running the team on the cheap but it is irrelevant if he actually plans on spending money on a good team. Last year's team wasn't good and cleaning house made a lot of sense from a baseball perspective.

Jay's theory might be on the mark. If your goal is to compete in 2014 as tjfla is speculating, wouldn't a wise play be to make sure you didn't have a million rookies on the roster? Giving the kids some big league experience in a no-pressure situation early could help them get adjusted and then turn it on in the second half.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

Except there is always the sophomore slump to worry about. Giving rookies significant amounts of playing time allows the rest of the league to get extensive video on them. This means that their flaws will be able to be found and then exploited much easier. Even if the rookies are able to perform now, there is no guarantee they will be able to adjust once the rest of the league knows their holes.

There are pro's and con's, I guess. I don't think any of the pro's outweigh the starting their clocks earlier portion of the discussion.

If they don't care about 2013, I don't understand why they can't wait a couple of more months to promote these guys. I don't think it makes a difference.

Also, the idea that they could go from potentially historically bad in 2013 to competitive in 2014 is probably delusional. Loria would have to spend money for that to happen, and it would have to be spent wisely, which is an entirely different issue. But yeah, if they expect to be competitive in 2014 with just this same core of prospects and more stopgaps, they're kidding themselves.

If Loria is planning on spending money to fill holes in 2014, it makes even more sense to bring up and evaluate players. It allows you to locate what areas of the team need to be addressed better.

As fans we just don't have the information required to understand the logic behind the moves. I doubt they have any idea what they're doing and are just trying to replace Stanton with Ozuna here because they are a similar type of player. Others have pointed out the lack of vision the front office has.

I don't think Stanton is going to be here next year. That's my prediction, for what it's worth (nothing).
