  • Saying inter league stinks is such a bad take. Playing the same 14 teams all year for 6 months is awful and unnecessary. I wish we got rid of divisions all together and every team played equal schedules and the top ____ teams make the playoffs

    • I think your take is a bad take.

It is a difference of opinion. Neither is inherently wrong nor right, as it is personal preference.

      • Look at the cards. Gibson, Lynn, and Gray. Haven’t traded any bats yet. What a world where you spend some money and fill out your rotation behind Mikolas and Matz with Libertore, Hence, and Graffeco all likely contributors.

They probably could use a good bullpen arm now if we are thinking what gets a bat. They probably can move Carlson and O’Neill here and sign a 1 year backup OF and keep Palacios/Baker as the last bat.

        Contreras, Herrera
        Goldschmidt
        Donovan, Gorman
        Edman, Winn
        Arenado
        Nootbar, O’Neill
        Carlson
        Walker, Burleson

I’d be offering them some kind of bullpen arm + Mesa Jr for Carlson and Pedro Pages. Maybe it’s even more interesting where you ask for ex-Ray Liberatore with those two and send Scott (who they’ll extend) in that package. There are some interesting combinations here with the Marlins lefty relievers IMO where all of the sudden, the Cards can move a SP prospect in my view. Big picture, Liberatore then opens up moving Garrett/Rogers/Cabrera/Max for a larger bat at SS and then they can sign a SP for 1-2 years and all of a sudden the team is missing a DLC upgrade to looking real good on paper, with another SP trade coming post 2024 when they can optimistically unleash Sandy, Eury, Luzardo, Cabrera/Max, and FA/Garrett/Rogers/Weathers/Liberatore/Fulton, with them having minimum 8 of those guys still on the roster.

Cards are smart. I wish we had some money. Signing to fix problems seems like such a fun thing for a fan base.

it would pretty clearly be the guy who had a 6.75 ERA in the second half and has been thoroughly mediocre since he got here with a good amount of luck. He has had a mid 4 XFIP each of the last 3 years with an ERA drastically under that in 2022 and 2021 and it finally caught up to him. I wouldnt say he stinks but he is as replaceable as one can possibly be as a bullpen arm. thoroughly mediocre.

the cardinals have had an attendance average of more than 35k every year since 1998 outside of covid restrictions. They have one of the best fan bases in baseball and that is why they can afford a payroll like that. we have an owner who should have never been approved to buy this team.

decent flier, clearly has talent as a former first rounder, but clear control issues. Has always struck out a good amount of guys but too many walks. This can be said about a ton of guys, but if he can learn some command/control he becomes a potential guy to look out for.

                  • we hired a guy out of the rangers organization by the name of Vinesh Kanthan as our director of baseball operations. According to his linkedin, which is literally the only record of him that i see on the internet, he Graduated from College in 2016, same year as me, which would put him around 30. Has to be one of if not the youngest front office member in baseball.

He worked in ticket services for the phillies in 2016, was a grad assistant for temple football in the 2016 season, then was in the rays baseball operations department for 13 months, then spent the last 4+ years in the rangers system. Had 4 jobs there- started for 10 months as a junior analyst in their baseball analytics department, then 13 months as a manager of sports science, then another year as the manager of sports science AND baseball operations, and then the last 2 years as the assistant director of baseball operations.

the 2 time reigning batting champ should probably have a starting spot next year. Also, not sure how many times it needs to be said before people get it, but edwards is not a SS.

                        • Arozarena is reportedly being shopped and the expectation is that he will be moved. Wonder if there would be interest there just because of the rays connection. Really good hitter, awful fielder according to fangraphs. His perception seems to outweigh his reality but a really good bat with 3 years left of team control. Career .924 OPS against lefties.
