Id take gary sanchez. He's always graded super positive defensively and the higher K rate doesnt hurt as much when you have guys like Arraez, Edwards, and Bell in the lineup making more contact. It's not like Fortes and stallings were anything special in terms of contact, i'd take the steady d with the much higher pop in a heartbeat, even it comes with more swing and miss and a sub .300 OBP

Gary last 3 years hitting lefties much harder than righties so it’s tough. Vazquez is the same boat. Everyone is not ideal here.

Maybe the move is including Fortes in a package for Jansen, and then trading for Bart with a reliever and Banfield. With signing Knizner to a MiLB deal. A lot of moving parts there, but that could be a pretty cheap turnover. Extend Jansen a few years and you have him and Bart for awhile. I think Toronto may be apt to moving Jansen if they get a C with control and playing Fortes against lefties isn’t a bad idea. Kirk can also pitch in at DH. That helps them lower some payroll. We’ll see but this is going to be tough for Bendix to figure out.

Talk to me about the repeated posts you made about McCambley being a lock for one of the right handers out of the pen this offseason and they didn’t protect him on the 40 man, nor is one of their top 30 prospects. And no one ever linked McCambley to that role. I hate to devolve into whataboutisms, but if you’re going to be a jerk again, ultimately - this is a message board about a sports team and recurring topics and themes WILL in fact come up. Lee is going to remind us about Kyle Teel for years. These things happen and are typically germane.

And to note, I never mentioned Fortes is maybe a key to some catcher trade (new content) so some team doesn’t feel like they have their pants down with their backup situation. Because all the FA are uninspiring. The point is all catchers likely stink in this cycle, so maybe you can get the good one (which is maybe Jansen despite your hatred) also moving Fortes (I think all teams would view him as an good backup with his defense, lefty splits, and club control) and accept your own backup situation is then weird or expensive (like trading for Jansen and then signing Gary or trading for Bart or taking Knizner as a flyer, etc.). But as an organization you don’t care because you got a starter upgrade and that’s worth a worse backup, etc. I’m just speculating here on a sports message board what can they do to solve this rather unsolvable problem? Or do we sit on our hands and wait for them to sign the next AAAA guy and say “smart, no risk” and move on to spring training?

After this I am done with this. I did a search out of curiosity. I have mentioned McCambley 3 times-and that includes the post where I said I had only mentioned him twice.

I dont mind him as 4th outfielder. He isn't good defensively but he can generally play all 3 where a 1 game sample here or there isn't going to hurt you and he has got some pop in his bat
