There are about a million reasons she would do this, but I'd be very interested to know which it is.

This screams, “Bruce is the problem”
but we all knew that. Except maybe Lee?

Yeah my guess is it's money related, everything the Marlins do is money related, but is it because Bruce won't spend money on the team, or is it she was expecting to get an extension and didn't get it and peaced out? Probably both.

I'm sure Mike Hill is available to work for peanuts and do whatever he's told to do with no thoughts of his own.

Barry Jackson - "With Jeter gone, Ng had final say, but others in front office were very involved in significant decisions. My understanding is ex GM Michael Hill is among those who would have interest if contacted. Job comes with payroll limitations (not as bad as once were) but a decent team."

              LMAO

Just spoke with Kim Ng, who stepped down as Marlins GM this morning. She said: “Last week, Bruce (Sherman) and I discussed his plan to reshape the Baseball Operations department. In our discussions, it became apparent that we were not completely aligned on what that should look like and I felt it best to step away. I wish to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Marlins family and its fans for my time in South Florida. This year was a great step forward for the organization, and I will miss working with Skip and his coaches as well as all of the dedicated staff in baseball operations and throughout the front office. They are a very talented group and I wish them great success in the future.”
AKA we weren't going to spend money. What a fucking joke.

I think she is going to get the Red Sox job. She wouldn’t leave - even with Bruce telling her BS payrolls - unless something was very probable with another club IMO.

Jeter left because Sherman's plan for the organization didn't align with his.
Ng left because Sherman's plan for the organization didn't align with hers.

                    WTF is Sherman's plan?

Yep. Beating a dead horse. Whether this is team payroll or not extending her a new 3 year deal at a more comparable salary to other GMs (I believe she’s on the low end of the spectrum). Any way we slice it, it is Bruce.

And that sucks for us as Kim has her warts, but she clearly gets it and just needs a “reasonable below average team salary” to make it work. Maybe someone else will be fine, but she should have been given more time and payroll for sure

Sub $100m payrolls (likely lower) and become the Rays until people show up for a few years so then I have confidence I can spend more?

He doesn’t care and isn’t going to build off the momentum of this year. That’s what I am reading. Maybe Bruce is seeing how Sandy, Garcia, Cueto, and Barnes are going to be paid $25m to not play next year and doesn’t realize shit happens?

Kim has a lot of experience in payroll as we know from past clubs. Connecting dots, I think we all agree that the team can extend Luzardo, Arraez, Eury, and maybe Jazz and Scott at realistic deals right now and they all deserve it in their own right. If they have begun those conversations internally of this is what that will cost and Bruce is like why shouldwe do any of that, I can see Kim not wanting to stick around knowing this guy will never get it if you can’t smash the underhand softball. Just speculation here, but this is the first offseason conversation probably and a real tone setter for a long term strategy IMO.

                          Per Jeff Passan
The Miami Marlins wanted to hire a president of baseball operations over general manager Kim Ng, leading to her departure from the organization, sources told ESPN. When reached, Ng declined comment. But sources said she would've been the No. 2 after constructing a playoff team.

This feels very “Marlins” initially. Maybe something will surprise us.

The whole “plans didn’t align” thing has Sherman not willing to spend more written all over it.

…. She should have just been “promoted” on a new three year deal and could pick a day to day person. I don’t get it. She can’t be demoted after making the playoffs.

That being said hopefully this is just Bruce upset there are no bats in the pipeline and he’s burning cash on Garcia, Cueto, and Segura + Stallings sucks and isn’t an indication he isn’t going to up some payroll. Basically, hopefully this is a different stupid emanating from the FO and some new FO group will be given $120m floor to get them the 4-5 players they need.
