The way the braves just ended that game is one of the coolest non walk off home run endings I’ve ever seen. Might be better than the conine pudge throw to end that game

Berry has opened 23 PA, .350/.458/.500 in the AFL with 3 2Bs and 3/5 BB/K. Hopefully this trend continues. He ended "stronger" this year with .805, .739, and .777 OPS splits in June, July, and August so he might be starting to figure it out. Maybe.

        Nasim is being Nasim - 24 PA, .250/.400/.250, with a 4/2 BB/K, 2/2 in SB

I am hoping with the popularity of the throwbacks that they ditch the current unis and bring back the pinstripes with old logo with an M instead of an F similar to the 02 to 2011 unis. Keep the teal hat and pinstripes for Friday's with a new M hat.

Both rebrands have been bad. 2012 was beyond awful and 2018 was just boring.

Large article on Sandy - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/sandy-al...place-surgery/

Not sure I agree with everything here and would chalk it up to "shit happens"

I would hate moving Jazz out of CF. IMO he's a much better CF than he was 2B. Also, I feel like Xavier Edwards would provide easily more production than Bader. If your argument is keeping him healthy, he played more games 37 more games this year playing in CF, than he did in 2022 playing 2B.

I think a trade has to be made for a SS. Get a guy who will be a huge upgrade for a year (Adames) or a guy who will be the shortstop of the future. (Ortiz)

IIRC Jazz graded out pretty mediocre to average in CF. Bader is exceptional defensively. You put him out there to make up for the poor Soler and Sanchez.

This would be a buy low on a still young Rosario. Go 2 years with a 3rd option and get him through the year 30 season. He averaged a 2.4 WAR in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Flaherty to replace the veteran arm the team is losing along with Lopez to settle the bullpen.

Garver is 32 and not good defensively but could spell 1B and DH too and go to Fortes when you need a defensive catcher.

Soler also is a free agent, and I'd set the floor on Garver, Rosario, Bader, Flaherty, Lopez, and Soler in free agency at.... $80m in payroll. So effectively, that is going to be a $160m payroll team above. And it would be $150m if I am over shooting it. I can't see Bruce jumping that much in payroll even if I would like him to do that. I am begging for $120m for years over here.

Ignoring the price, I'm with Nick here for a few things:

-Jazz is a great defensive CF so no need to move him unless its an ideal situation. Although, I do like the idea of getting someone like Bader and moving Jazz to LF a lot (easier on legs for injury?) and all of a sudden having a premium OF defense. In a perfect world, I'd love Jazz to be at DH 60+ games just to help with some wear and tear. Assuming Jazz can mentally stay involved in the game not in the field.

-Garver can't really catch anymore full time and is more like a part time catcher + DH. If we like Fortes 110 behind the plate, I think Garver can do 50 back there and DH another 80 games. The run game will be a real circus. That being said, I think the Marlins prefer "defensive game managers" versus a stick so Garver isn't much of a fit even if I do like him. If they got him, there is no way they also keep Soler here.

-Rosario graded so bad defensively I'm not sure we can call him a SS anymore. I think he will be a great buy-low for 2B though if decisions are made not to keep Soler and shift Arraez to 1B. That'll free up Edwards for some OF time and ease his transition a bit before a more full time spot. But, I think Bell opts-in so we're likely at another year of Arraez at 2B before the inevitable shift to 1B once Bell is gone in 2025. Totally with Nick on must get a longterm SS as there aren't even bridge options. Rosario would be if his defense didn't crater but it did.

-It's hard not to keep Berti

-Bender likely is going to need significant rehab for a few months, and McCambley isn't going to be picked over Brazoban, Hoeing, or Maldonado by them all of a sudden but they are all club controlled with options so minor quib there. Bender actually is going to be in minor arbitration but I think they'll keep him if he's healthy.

I'd set it as C, SS, a bat anywhere, SP, and R-RHP.

This is roughly $82m and leaves Rogers and Okert to trade for a SS.

                        ___, Fortes
                        Bell
                        Arraez, Hampson
                        _____, Berti
                        Burger
                        ____, DLC
                        Jazz, Edwards
                        Sanchez

Luzardo, Eury, Garrett, Cabrera, ______, Weathers
                        ______, Chargois, Brazoban, Soriano/Hoeing/Maldonado
                        Scott, Puk, Nardi

And if they are going to spend $160m, I'd base the offseason around Bellinger and make Adames or Jansen (preferably both) a must there. Everything would fall into place if they could get those guys. The position players would be phenomenal on paper.

                            A check-in from the villain.

Ng gotta go. When costly free agents like Garcia, Cueto and Segura all come to camp 20-40 pounds overweight, it's instant verification that a front office blew it big time. Those players got their money and didn't give a shit about the team. Beyond that, every Ng interview sounds like the evening news - all read off a teleprompter. The drafts, while not necessarily measurable at this point, look awful to me. Ryan Teel looked like Adley Rutschman in college (except in a better conference) and showed it all the way to AA this season. How could a team that is so badly starving for a bright catching prospect pass on him? And Berry over an athlete like Brooks Lee, a guy who could wind up at SS by late next season? I'd hire someone new.

Should probably hire someone who is 30+ wins off in their preseason win predictions. Or thinks we got fleeced in the Jake Burger-Jake Eder trade.
