Marlins Trade Everyone to Toronto, Receive lifetime supply of Maple Syrup
Right. In that scenario, where they go to the World Series.
But does anyone actually see that happening? Or does anyone actually have faith that will happen? If they intended to build something, they would have gotten more back for the players they traded. If they are just going to turn around and invest in more free agents, then why did they just get rid of their young elite shortstop who was just acquired in free agency? And if they want to win, why do they keep the same front office staff that has repeatedly made bad decision after bad decision?
And let's face, if we're in the WS 3 years from now, it's because Loria/FO really did just want a clean slate to start over, did reinvest into the team, and found some studs in this trade.
In which case, all is forgiven.
Not happening under these baseball people, so it doesn't matter.
But again, this deal goes beyond baseball. They have no interest whatsoever in growing this market and that's the biggest problem. They could have gotten back the #1-5 best prospects in baseball and there would have still been a significant public backlash.
Really can't stress the betraying the public trust point enough. And, before the retort is 'who cares what Johnny Q. Public thinks, they're dumb', Mr. Public paid for the stadium.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.
multiple people are saying 4 pm presser but I don't see anything even close to official. has anyone heard this from a reputable source or from somewhere other than twitter?

I was just answering Erick's hypothetical question.

It's a hypothetical scenario.
Lou said fans wouldn't come again under Loria ownership even if the team wins so that's the best example I could come up with.
Realistically, I don't expect that to happen, but crazier things have happened.

I haven't
I keep hearing Selig is making them rework the deal somehow, but could just be Bud making an announcement of what is going on

James Cylbulski who I quoted works for TSN, he's a host there. Would be odd for him to tweet something that would be on TSN if it wasn't true. But I've seen nothing else.
