    Right, there is that, but

The 2015 team could look like

    C- Brantly/Realmuto
    1B - Morrison/Yelich
    2B -
    SS -
    3B -
    LF - Yelich/Ozuna
    CF - Marisnick/Yelich
    RF - Stanton
B - Ruggiano, Hechavarria, Cox, Solano, Other C/Skipworth

    SP - Fernandez, Turner, Alvarez
    SP/RP - Conley, Eovaldi, Hand, C. James
    RP - Cishek, Ramos, Jennings

Plus Heaney in high minors, the bevy of arms currently in Jupiter/Greensboro who some will work out, four picks first two rounds in 2013, likely great draft picks 2014, and whatever else in current system wants to be good.

The only players above in arbitration are Stanton, Morrison, Ruggiano (arb2), and Eovaldi and Cishek (arb1). I might be off a year with the later two but wouldn't change much.

I mean, let's say they can get 4 SP and a bullpen out of the above, the outfield is settled, and let's say they figure out one of C or 1B but the other of Morrison or the catchers blow. That is $30-35 million in payroll, and probably 20 spots on the team settled. If Loria would commit to 2012 payroll in 2015 in that scenario, that's a $65-70 million shopping spree, and I would have to imagine between that and trade assets they could figure out something acceptable at every spot even if they are looking for starters and high impact guys.

Not saying this is a good idea as they are basically killing the fan base in South Florida with this move, but keeping payroll that low creates options if most of the guys work out. I'm not expecting anything of the sorts.

Hopefully this is clearing the list of debts for the next owner so he can sell sell sell the franchise

Wouldn't the government forcing him to sell the Marlins be basically the single embodiment of everything you're against politically?

Doesn't anybody see that Loria is altruistically sending players to Canada to make up for the Expos leaving?

                      That team looks great IF

Four guys are well above average players - Stanton, and pick 3 of Fernandez, Yelich, Morrison, Turner, Alvarez, and I guess Marisnick is next highest upside on the list

A lot of the other guys are solid MLB, like the guys above who aren't well above average and the Brantly, Eovaldi, Cishek, Hand, etc working class folks

And they drop five free agents on the team who average $12 between all of them

                      Then that team looks great

Not a chance. Expect John Lannan types who just want a job and whom the Marlins maybe can trade at the deadline if they work out.

                      I'm talking about Kouzmanoff

I can't understand what they are up to, they have to be thinking of going out and signing someone.

I can't see them winning more than 60 next year. This front office & ownership just don't care about winning. Baseball in Miami is never going to really happen until these clowns are gone.

They're going to have like 30 million dollars to spend on next year's team. That's at least a handful of valuable players if they know what they're doing (which they don't, unfortunately, but the point remains the same).

MLB isn't going to allow a payroll this low to be fielded on Opening Day. I can't see that happening.

My point is, would MLB allow a payroll this low especially from a team in the 2nd year of their new stadium? They might overpay a guy or two.
