If I remember correctly, you guessed the Marlins would sign literally every free agent, right?

Not spending it on BJ or Bourn is smart. Bourn is 30 and who knows how long he will be effective and BJ Upton just sucks, I have no idea why you are so adamant about him. This is a weak free agent market year anyway. Just because you have money doesnt mean you should spend it or have to spend it.

No, I absolutely did not to do that.

There was only one other pitcher I picked us to sign and I can't even remember who it was.

I think you did. But okay!

Also, I'm one of the few people here who absolutely hated the Heath Bell signing. When do I get my oracle badge?

Everyone agrees that it is funny that signing Kevin fucking Kouzmanoff to a minor fucking league contract led to this, right?

BJ Upton has 4.5, 5.0, 2.4, 4.1, 4.1, and 3.3 WARs the last 6 years and is 28. I have no obsession about him, but saying he's a likely 3.5+ WAR guy moving forward is just based on the stats. Nothing is wrong with his ISO, LD rates, defense, base running. He has underperformed on his BABIP. No one is going to be surprised if he goes all Granderson offensively soon. Yea he strikes out a lot. That's the negative. You guys make it seem like he is Reggie Abercrombie or Jai Miller. If he's priced right, probably 4/$60, that would be a nice deal. If he moves towards 5/$80 as some are suggesting, obviously probably not the best deal.

Regardless, I was just expecting them to be better with the stadium. We're JJ, and part of Nolasco and Buck away from lowest payroll in baseball. And it's not like they are going to save that money to reinvest next year. That sucks. Nothing has changed.

                      I like BJ Upton.

But you're kind of jumping to Jason Jacksons with the nothing has changed stuff.

The defensive metrics have had him regressing over the last few seasons and he was a negative defender this season. Knowing that and knowing he's about average offensively, I don't understand how his WAR is what it is.

I dislike just saying "BJ Upton has such and such WAR" when there is a significant disagreement on his value depending on which source you are citing.

If you trust Fangraphs, he is totally worth $12 million or something.

But he's been worth 7.2 WAR total over the last four seasons according to B-R's WAR. That's really mediocre.

That makes more sense when accounting for my above post.

If Kouz can do that in 2013, that would be awesome.
