      I never said "set for life". I also don't think you can make any connection between professional athletes and their peers. Antoine Walker went broke, Jamaal Mashburn is doing phenomenally. They both played kinda decent power-foward for the Heat (see what I did there).

        but an 8 figure payday pretty much eliminates the "he needs to plan for life after baseball if something goes wrong"

          I have a feeling the Marlins will sign him long term, and on the way home from signing said contract he's going to blow out his knee and never play baseball ever again.

          Wouldn't that be such a 'Marlins' thing to happen?
