Those were 65 very high quality innings. It'd almost be disrespectful to keep him there just because. And this is coming from a guy who'd much rather err on the side of caution with prospects.

Plus, ya know, he's 26. Too old for Jupiter for sure.

True, I forgot about his age. 26 is a tad old for the Florida State League. Can he even be considered a prospect at that age? He's just the next Willie Glen.

Fernandez looks his age. Ozuna on the other hand...

Talking about prospects, Matt Dominguez is hitting .283 with 4 HR 10 RBI with an OPS of .875 in 53 ABs. Oh, and his fielding %, yeah, it's .1000

They might want to move Matty off third with that .100% fielding perecent

But guys, don't forget that we got Zack Cox, "An everyday 3rd baseman for a f*cking seventh inning guy. I'm for it."

I'll take that if we don't put the Detroit Tigers defense behind our pitching staff.

You do realize that no team wants our crap contracts, right?

Also, at this point, I really don't see the big deal about keeping Nolasco and Buck for their last year.
We're getting a lot of nothing for them so just keep them around.

Buck is better than a lot of backup/platoon catchers in baseball and Nolasco is still worthy of a rotation spot next year. We probably do not have 5 better arms in the organization, anyway.
If anything, let Nolasco pitch until the trade deadline; maybe he can overachieve and raise his trade value to the point where we'd actually get something in return for him.

In what will likely be a lost year, there is no reason to rush Fernandez to the majors. I dont care if he is killing the Southern League in July, leave him there.

I don't understand the infatuation with our prospects skipping AAA completely.

Generally when they've been called up, they've been killing AA and we've had a need at the MLB level.

I guess they think that way for a couple of reasons, Jay.

High-A to Double-A is the biggest jump. Bigger than Double to Triple-A or to the show. If they can succeed at Double-A, they could do well at the majors. Also, the Pacific Coast league can just make a pitcher look bad. It's extremely hitter friendly. They have eased that recently as Hand, Koehler and others have spent a lot of time in New Orleans.

Hand and Koehler are no where near the caliber of pitcher Fernandez is suppose to be. And if everyone that could succeed could do well in the majors then why does AAA exist and why are there still shitty players in the majors?

We have had more players take longer to develop due to promoting them early. This happens much more often with pitchers. I just scanned the roster, the last three position players of impact that have been rushed over AAA are Stanton, Maybin and Hermida. I understand we need an arm but by bringing up these pitching prospects early we start their clock earlier and potential destroy their psyche because we refuse to use one of the journeyman arms in AAA as a filler. I understand the PCL is not the easiest league to pitch in but starters that have potential to be a staple in the rotation generally have not quite learned how to pitch and still are mainly just throwers.

This said I think Fernandez maybe one of those players who can skip AAA. He is after all 26 (I assume someone here knows what they're talking about).

It's considered so among minor league levels.
